About this mod Machine translation

Ever notice a plasma pistol floating in mid-air? Or a laser rifle that cannot be balanced by the grip alone? It turns out that some of the guns in the game have invisible hitboxes that can reach farther than they should.

Update July 24: Fixed overly large hitboxes that would cause some weapons to float or collide in too large an area. (Reuploaded using old compression compatible with built-in Windows zip tool) Also added STS patch for shotgun, unnecessary conflicts and crashes have been avoided

Features

Fixed collision with four "dummy" objects used as cores for various Bethesda-made guns.

Seriously, that's it. Laser Pistols, Laser Rifles, Laser Rifles, Plasma Pistols, Plasma Rifles, and several other gun items have utility models with oversized collisions. It's gone now.

As a side effect of the above fixes, guns actually sound like guns when dropped. Previously, this would only happen if dropped at a certain angle because the wrong material was used for the oversized crash box.

FAQ

How to start using this mod?

Just install it! No configuration or special steps are required.

Is this compatible with gun mods?

Yes, it should be compatible with most gun mods. If a mod replaces the same file, there may be a conflict. I have more information in the comments section.

There are other weapons that have weird collisions, why don't you fix them?

Most other weapons with oversized collision, such as the Flare Gun, have this collision built into the main model. This meant they needed a replacement for the actual weapon to make a new collision from scratch. This is very different from just removing the collision from the utility like I did here.

Is it safe to use in existing games?

Yes. However, due to changing the "size" of some guns, guns placed in the world may move some after installing this mod.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
