Clarity – Visual Makeover

This is a thorough review of weather, lighting and camera effects.

NOTE: This mod now comes with an ini file containing recommended settings for godrays and character lighting. This ini is not required, so feel free to remove/change it.

The 3 main goals of this mode are as follows:

1: Eliminate many annoying or distracting effects

2: Make it easier to see

3: Usually just improves the look of the game

Zero performance penalty (Performance may change if the included ini settings conflict with your current ini settings. If this happens, simply delete or edit the included ini file)

Vague

No more. Bad DoF, distant blur, temporary blur, VATS blur. All of this is gone.

*The optional DoF version keeps only the higher quality DoF and still removes the rest.

FOG

It's smooth now and usually very little. Gone are the distracting lines of fog that follow the movement of the camera.

shadow

The shadows are darker and pop more now. Still, you can see perfect play.

Volumetric light

All weather now utilizes volumetric lighting. At night, rainy weather and cloudy days will all benefit. In some ways this makes the game less sharp, but it looks fine.

Conventional lamp

The lights are adjusted to be less harsh. Includes workshop lights from the Vault-Tec DLC - but now they actually light up your vault!

water

Water LOD looks better and some broken water reflections are fixed.

Useful INI adjustments for better shading

Find and edit the following in your Fallout4Prefs.ini to make shadows smoother with no performance penalty:

[Display]fBlendSplitDirShadow = 192.0000

Compatibility and load order:

This mod edits a ton of different things including weather, lighting, and interior cells.

Load this mod in your load order and let your favorite mods override it.

The exception is if you try the True Storms version. The True Storms version of Clarity needs to be loaded after each True Storms plugin, but before.
