About this mod Machine translation
Don't forget to change your sD3DDevice when installing!
Tweaked Fallout 4 cfgs for great performance, I have 50+ fps Diamond City, fx6300 and r9 280x. It's taxing on the visual system, but its performance is fantastic. I'm an experienced FPS player and this has only the necessary tweaks, nothing fancy you might not like about the UI etc. ! These CFGs also benefit greatly from high/ultra quality visuals, you just need to bring up the visuals in the Fallout 4 Launcher, as explained below. ! If you want better performance, regardless of your target image quality, I highly recommend giving it a try.
It adjusts shadows and removes godrays, fixes mouseacc and adds fov 110 + other adjustments.
Installation instructions
Back up the old cfg files, unzip these files to Documents\My Games\Fallout 4 or whatever your fallout4 cfg directory is. edit
sD3DDevice="AMD Radeon R9 200 Series" in fallout4prefs.ini for whatever was in your original cfg.
Set both files to read-only and start the fallout4 launcher. I wouldn't touch godrays and shadow qualty, but if the current settings don't work for you, try setting the shadow distance to low. Set the other values to whatever you like, it might slow down performance, but you won't be changing it in the cfg since it's read-only.
When I finally found the setup that worked best for me I copied the cfgs then I removed the read only from the current two cfgs and then I booted the launcher. There I edit the settings to those that work best for me, start margin 4 and then I alt-tab and read only the two files again.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
