About this mod Machine translation

Camping is obviously one of the modes that everyone wants to play in a Bethesda game, and I've been included since day one. About a month ago I jotted down all my ideas and after I released Basement Living I set out to make something simple, but still "immersive" and fun. It eventually grew into what you see here.

Campsites add foldable/portable tents and sleeping bags (new mesh and HD textures in multiple colors, including camouflage), cloth walls, flames, lanterns and cooking pots, each with their own unique gameplay dynamics, sounds, interactivity and animations. Simple to relaxing gameplay, detailed enough to make you feel involved.

When Survival Mode moves out of beta, it will be updated to include some new features, but the goal is to keep it very light and simple! It's very basic under the hood and can be safely added to the game. I don't recommend uninstalling any mods in the game, but this should be fairly safe to remove any time.

Everything you need to know is in this simulation video, please take a few minutes to watch it!

New stuff:

Chemistry Station has a new category called CAMPING GEAR. If you are using the Armor and Weapon keywords (and you should!), all items will fall into the OTHER category. I didn't make new categories because limitations were found there as well.

Adventures in the Camping Book: Unlock all color variations in your inventory; can be found in the Sanctuary’s Root Cellar (Video).

Colors include vanilla/white, black, blue, forest camo, desert camo, grey, green, red, and two additional colors of the sleeping bag: Nuka Cola (red) and Vault-Tec/Vault-Boy (blue).

Makeshift tent: A tarp draped over a tree branch with a sleeping bag underneath to hang a lantern on.

Pole Tent (Solo): New tent net, comes with a sleeping bag. Lantern can be attached. Available in 7 colors.

Polar Tent (Double): Same as above, but with two beds so you can sleep with a companion/NPC. Lantern can be attached. Available in 7 colors.

Sleeping Bag: A good, reliable sleeping bag. There are 10 colors to choose from.

Dog bed! : New furniture for unused Dogmeat sleep animation (and new snoring sounds!) - he will sleep until you wake him up! Available in 7 colors.

Fabric Wall: Fabric hung between poles, good for some extra coverage and wind buffering. Available in 7 colors.

Fire Kit: Wood, oil, cloth combined into a kit to start and maintain a fire.

Cooking Pot: Attached to a campfire to cook food in the wild. Needs ignition.

Lantern: a portable light fixture that goes anywhere! Will attach to the tent or can be placed on the ground so it won't fall over.

GPS Beacon: Place this at your campsite to place a map marker on your Pip-Boy map so you can use it as a base. Can be used anywhere.

All items have Workshop equivalents (optional ESP) so you can craft these items in your settlement. The tent/sleeping bag is under Furniture > Bed. Dog Beds, Fabric Under Wall Decor>Miscellaneous. Bonfires and lanterns are under Power > Lights. Tents count as single or double beds for your settlement statistics, and fires in settlements will burn forever.

Purchase the Adventures in Camping Book from Sanctuary's Root Cellar so you can make it in all the colors you want! If you don't have the book in your inventory, you'll only see the standard white/tan option. I'm doing this so the crafting/studio menu isn't cluttered, but I'm open to feedback here.

If you use patches, craft the items you want to carry at the Chem Station (or AWKCR workbench). You will need to make a portable version separate from the workshop tent. They will appear in your inventory as "Camping Kit - [item]". The fire will burn out in a few hours, so add more!

When setting up camp, look for a flat area; furniture doesn't like working at steep angles. There is always flat ground nearby, even in the middle of the street!

Stand where you want the item to be and remove it from your inventory. It will be placed directly in front of you. Set up camp the way you like.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
