describe

Update v2.0 (06.04.2016): I like what happens when a merge is planned. Or when two mods are combined together. Better Weapon Mod Descriptions have been merged into this mod with Better Armor Mod Descriptions: Better Mod Descriptions, combining the two mods into one mod. It is no longer necessary to use both BAMD and BWMD to fix legendary modified numbers, now they are all in one place.

Update v2.1 (27.05.2016): Even the furthest ports, the latest DLC armor and weapon models are now included in this update.

A bonus for NMM users: there is now an All-In-One NMM file that allows you to install any and all mods from a single download. Because I can. Please note that just because you can select each compatible file does not necessarily mean that they are all compatible with each other.

Also note: There is a known bug in Fallout 4 that may cause the game to crash when trying to load a save file that is missing more than 4 addons. If this happens, you can work around this by forcing the save file to load via a console command, use F4SGE to clear the save file of any references to the missing plugin, or simply rename the new plugin to the old name until the error does not trigger.

Compatibility releases only modify the description of modifications actually changed by compatible mods. You need the master BMD file as well as a compatible version. The loading order should be: main BMD file followed by other mods, followed by other mod compatible BMD files.

Additionally, the Google spreadsheet contains all vanilla base and Automatron weapons and their respective modifications as well

Legendary effects can be found under the Articles tab.

Tired of better recoil, special damage or poor range? Want to know how much Dense Chestpiece can reduce explosion damage? Try some real numbers on your mods!

Better Mod Descriptions strives to give you actual information about what each armor and weapon mod does by changing the description of each modification.

It keeps all values in their vanilla settings and just lists them all - including some that weren't actually documented in the old description but are still there. Using a BMD does not make your weapon mode stronger or weaker.

So, what exactly do better weapon mold descriptions do? Here is an example, using a hunting rifle .50 receiver:

Old description: Special damage. Change ammo type to .50 Caliber. Increase firepower.

"Special," they said. “Improvements,” they say. Add blur, they say.

Better Mod Description: +75% damage. Use .50 rounds. +25% rate of fire. -25% reload time.

+75% damage? Don't mind if I do this! +25% fire rate? Yes please! Wait. The 50 receiver also reduces reload time? Who knows!

These changes have been applied to all armor and weapon models in the game (including unique items/effects and legendary modifiers), showing actual numbers and sometimes previously unknown modifiers that are actually good and descriptive for those who like their descriptions.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
