About this mod Machine translation
UPDATE v1.0: I added custom particle effects for each different color of the Berry Mentats effect. I also modified the color values to make them more visible during the day, although usually this isn't perfect.
-------
Like many people who play Fallout 4, I often have trouble tracking down the bodies of things I kill in the wasteland, especially when explosives are involved. Someone throws a few grenades and suddenly whatever reason you were so proud to take down the legend is nowhere to be found, probably forever, along with your chance of taking the legendary loot off it. Almost makes me wish Rex's Search and Mark perk transitioned from New Vegas to Fallout 4.
Even more maddening is the fact that we have several ways of highlighting our lives that, frankly, are hardly hard to track down. "A few"...well, two: Berry Mentats and Power Armor's targeting HUD mod. The basic idea is there, though. Is it not possible to extend it to the dead?
Unsurprisingly, the answer turns out to be yes. So, after a few hours of tinkering, I've got the first part of what I hope will be an elegant solution to the problem.
MOD
Targeted HUD enhancement does pretty much what you want: it enhances target HUD mode. Specifically, it expands what it highlights to cover corpses, and changes the highlight color depending on whether it's highlighting friends (green), enemies (red), or corpses (blue). The highlight will change in real time: that is, if you trigger a normally friendly NPC to fight you, the highlight will change from green to red when they start attacking. Likewise, killing an NPC or creature will instantly change the highlight from green/red to blue.
Many people requested some way to turn the Targeting HUD on or off as needed. The simplest, neatest way I can think of is to turn it on and off separately when your weapon is drawn or holstered. In other words, the targeting HUD will now only turn on when your weapon is out. This does not apply to Berry Mentats.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
