About this mod Machine translation
Added support for the new BA2 save format introduced in next-gen update 1.10.980 to versions 1.10.163 and earlier. Fixed crash issue, similar to BEES for Skyrim Special Edition.
Please do not install this mod if you are using game version 1.10.980 or higher. This is redundant.
Backported Archive2 Support System replicates the updated file loading code used in Fallout 4's 1.10.980 patch. This allows older game versions to seamlessly load newer BA2 files without crashing. Equivalent to Laoguan's BEE back plug-in.
I (original author Nukem, the same below) recommend using Simple Fallout 4 Downgrader at the same time.
Prerequisites
F4SE (version 0.6.23)
F4SE plug-in address library (version 1.10.163)
Pre-existing 1.10.163 versions of Fallout4.exe and steam_api64.dll. All other files (ESP, ESL, ESM, BA2, etc.) can be safely upgraded to the latest game version. GOG Galaxy users need Galaxy64.dll instead of steam_api64.dll.
Custom menu module
For those using custom menus or interface mods, please set this plugin to load before other plugins. MainMenu.swf should be overwritten on purpose. Alternatively, you can delete the included MainMenu.swf file. The new bethesda.net menu is not compatible with older game versions.
log
The startup version line is logged to BackportedBA2Support.log in Documents\My Games\Fallout4\F4SE.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
