About this mod Machine translation
For those unfamiliar with the weapon, a brief history:
The Sturmgewehr 44 (German Storm/Assault Rifle) was the world's first widely used assault rifle. The Germans realized that combat more frequently took place at ranges of 800 meters, so the long range of the 8mm Mauser cartridge was unnecessary for general combat, and its high recoil made fully automatic fire unwieldy. The intermediate cartridge will allow for action between bolt-action rifles (like the Kar98K) and submachine guns (like the MP40). So began the development of the 7.92x33/8mm Kurz (8mm short) and Sturmgewehr (Maschinenkarabiner at the time). This weapon was very popular with the German army, but its development was problematic due to administrative complications: Hitler did not agree with the need for a new rifle and intermediate cartridge, although he allowed the project to continue as a new submachine gun - which it was, but only in name (Maschinenpistole 43/44). Later, seeing the "new rifle" and the favorable reception it performed, Hitler was so impressed that, according to legend, he named it the Sturmgewehr.

statistics:
More damage than the vanilla battle rifle, more consistent for full automatic fire, but less range because the 8mm Kurz is a bit heavier, is a shortened full rifle cartridge, and fires slightly slower. For an assault rifle design, this is a good weapon: average performance at medium range, good stopping power and controllable full auto, while being able to fire accurately in semi-auto (although it's not a sniper rifle, so lacks long-range range).
This is a very rare weapon, it can be found in the Museum of Witchcraft near the body of Major Jeffries, and is used by Captain Wes, the Gunner's commander, in Gunner Square (also improves his equipment, a bit beyond the mod, but since I'm already editing him and making him more unique...). It's hard to find in epic loot and some vendors. It can sometimes be used by rails around level 30. It can also be spawned as a legendary item.
If you want to use the console to generate it, type "help sturm 4 weapon" to get the ID.
It defaults to 5.56 rounds, but it is highly recommended to use the New Calibers version to get the correct 7.92x33mm ammo.
It is compatible with see-through combat scopes, including 2 combat scopes, and can be customized with reticles if you have an STCS or STS frame installed.
compatibility:
It will not be compatible with other mods that change the same level list. You need to make a merged patch to make it work with these mods. There are actually many tutorials. Link (provided by Skibadaa) As of version 1.1 it should be compatible with anything since it uses a script for hierarchical lists.
See the Permissions section for a patch and I may consider making a patch based on it, so feel free to ask.
Install: Use NMM or extract to Data folder
Uninstall: Make sure to unequip/drop/store the weapon and save the game. Then delete all files.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
