advanced battle rifle
There are 12 basic types: .308 basic. 308 with flame launcher. 308 with grenade launcher. 308 with shotgun. 45 basic. 45 with flame launcher. 45 with grenade launcher. 45 with shotgun. 5.56 basic. 5.56 with flame launcher. 5.56 with grenade launcher. 5.56 with shotgun.
Once you have one of these, here's what you do for it:
Five different scopes, including night vision and aim point
Four different magazines, including a 100-round double drum (like the ACR Remington is developing for the U.S. Army)
Four different muzzles, none, light bayonet, regular bayonet and suppressor. (The bayonet cannot be used on underbarrel mounted rifles.
Any of these mods can be swapped out in the wild without a weapon workbench. Even in battle.
You can easily switch between full-auto, semi-auto, or even a lower barrel if your rifle has one. I recommend setting a hotkey to toggle.
Where can you get this fantastic weapon?
At your local Red Rocket! Well, at least the one near the shelter. (see picture) There you will find a .308 Common Basic Advanced Battle Rifle.
You can craft all mods at the standard weapon workbench. Keep in mind that you can only swap mods in the field if you have a mod in your inventory and use a holotape.
Also remember that slings are not mods. You have to find an advanced battle rifle that already has the lower barrel installed. Speaking of additional Advanced Battle Rifles, there is a bunker in the northeastern area of the map filled with Advanced Battle Rifles, mods, and ammo. But I'll leave it to you to find out for yourself.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
