Hi, before I continue, let me let you know that I am not the manufacturer.

Anyway, I recently downloaded these two mods:

  • Touch green
  • All trees have leaves

Both modes are nice, but playing with them takes away from immersion. There is too much green. So I made some tweaks to theirs, tweaked the greens, got rid of some of the horrible green textures, and had fewer trees so it didn't look like a jungle.

I think this would be a nice way to enhance the environment while maintaining the wasteland feel. If you're curious, here's a video.

Thanks to AOD Gaming for the showcase.

And the other one,

Thanks to FallOut4Vault for the presentation.

Install

-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------

  • Go to the "Fallout 4" folder located under "My Games"
  • Open Fallout4.ini
  • Find the following lines.

sResourceDataDirsFinal = STRINGS \

Now edit it so it looks like this, remembering to save your changes:

sResourceDataDirsFinal = STRINGS \,INTERFACE \,TEXTURES \,SOUND \,MESHES \,MUSIC \,LODSETTINGS \,SCRIPTS \,VIDEO \

  • Go to another Fallout 4 folder located under steamapps>common>fallout 4
  • Add the downloaded texture file to the data folder.

Version 2 added

  • Decreased the saturation of many leaves so they don't stand out as much.
  • Changed the color and saturation of some plants that looked out of place.
  • Adds a bit of color to the hedges, they look weird when they're completely brown.
  • Make the trees greener and darker, the trees become so colorful it doesn't make any sense. Some may think it doesn't look as good, but it certainly makes more sense. This is a real editor after all.

Added low resolution version

This was asked many times so I made a version that lowered the resolution of all textures by 50%. The file size is much smaller and there's honestly not a huge visual difference.

Solve common problems

  • If there is already a textures folder in the Data folder, then just put the landscapes folder there.
  • Make sure to edit Fallout4.ini, not FalloutPrefs.ini
  • Make sure Fallout4.ini is set to read-only by right-clicking the file and clicking Properties, remember to press apply.
  • Grass flickering/flickering is a difficult problem to completely resolve. However, turning on anti-aliasing in the graphics settings will help a lot.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
