About this mod Machine translation
The vanilla mortar didn't really fit the artillery part, so I replaced it with a WWII era 155mm howitzer M1. It is a medium-sized artillery piece deployed during World War II and in Vietnam, and is still used by many countries. This might even fit into the lore due to the divergence of timelines after World War II.
This howitzer was first produced under the name 155mm Howitzer M1, which was changed to the M114 155mm Howitzer in the 1960s. The gun for this model is located on the M1A1 carriage. You can get more information from the technical manual.
Please note that the following video is a bit dated in the sense that it was before the animation started working. That's the only difference, everything else is the same.
detail
The mesh and textures for the howitzer, shells and pallets were all created from scratch in Blender and Substance Painter 2.
- The howitzer is in the firing position with its tail open, the firing jack in place, and the partial shield lowered to allow use of the telescope.
Textures are 2K and 4K.
It has a simple but awesome shooting animation that bounces off Ethreon. Big thanks to deadbeeftffn for helping implement it, if it doesn't fit them it won't work.
Note that to make animations work with Angry Artillery you need to edit the script. I wrote a small guide in the articles section.
- Single 155mm housing and six housing trays.
The texture of a single 155mm case can be swapped out so it has different markings or say scrawling - texture swapping is under optional files.
The pallets can be joined together.
The actual projectile fired from the shell and impacting during the shelling has been changed to a 155 mm shell type.
The textures of the shell and tray are both 2K.
War memorial with howitzers and waving flags you can place anywhere.
Memorial based on this real life. Activate it and it will reveal lines written on the stone.
All objects can be sunk into the ground except flags.
New features in 2.0
Shooting animation.
July 28th - Reworked most of the texture swaps and added some new texture swaps.
compatibility
Nothing should conflict with this mod. My other mod, Simple Artillery Strikes, works fine with it. Angry Artillery will work too, but don't select override when prompted during installation...well, you'll be overwriting the Angry Artillery script.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
