Bronze Age Total Conversion
This project is a complete historical conversion, set during the collapse of the Late Bronze Age, one of the most mysterious and transformative periods in human history.
The main goal of this mod is to recreate the Mediterranean world of the last decades of the Bronze Age, allowing players to experience the destruction of the Old World, the survival of collapsed civilizations, and the rise of the Iron Age that ultimately led to the emergence of the Classical Age.
Timeline
The mod begins in the last years of the Bronze Age, during which:
- Collapse of monarchical kingdoms;
- famine;
- Mass migration;
- Economic collapse;
*Civil War;
- and the devastating attacks of the Sea Peoples.
The first 30 years of gameplay are designed to represent the true Bronze Age Collapse:
- The ancient powers weakened;
- Trade routes failed;
- Coastal cities burning;
- Migration disrupts entire areas;
- The empire disintegrated.
After this collapse phase, the world slowly transitions to:
- Reconstruction Era;
- The spread of Iron Age culture;
- The rise of new kingdoms and nations;
- The foundations of the Classical Age were finally formed around 230 BC.
The long campaign evolution aims to organically transform the ancient world from:
- Palace civilization in the Bronze Age
Transition to:
*Iron Age Kingdom
Then to:
- Recognizable classic civilizations from antiquity.
Geographic scope
The initial focus of this mod is the Bronze Age world.
Main playable areas:
*Mediterranean;
- Greece and the Balkans;
*Asia Minor;
- Near East;
- Mesopotamia;
- Egypt;
- part of Italy;
- and the North African coast.
These were the major centers of Bronze Age civilization and were at the heart of the collapse.
bronzeagecollapse
Collapse is a core theme of this mod.
Historically, the Late Bronze Age collapse remains poorly understood.
The exact cause is still debated, but possible factors include:
- famine;
*Climate crisis;
- Trade collapse;
- Internal instability;
- Immigrants from Western and Northern Europe;
- and the destructive invasions and raids of the Sea Peoples.
This mod aims to recreate the atmosphere of:
- Uncertainty;
- fear;
*Instability;
- Migration;
- And the end of entire civilizations.
Players should feel like the old world is dying.
civilizationdecline
When the game begins, many of the great Bronze Age powers are already in decline:
- Hittites;
- Kingdom of Mycenae;
- Near Eastern countries;
- and many of the Eastern Mediterranean powers.
Their administration became unstable.
Their economies depended on fragile trade networks.
Their cities relied on bronze and imported resources.
Their authority was reduced by famine and war.
The world is entering a dark age.
Exploration and Colonization
A major long-term mechanic of the mod is exploration and ocean colonization.
As the old Bronze Age world collapsed and the new Iron Age civilization emerged, the maritime powers gained the ability to:
- Explore unknown shores;
- Establish a trade base;
- Establish a colony;
- Expand naval influence;
- And create a new power in the Mediterranean.
This system is particularly important for:
*Phoenician civilization;
- Greek civilization;
- and later Mediterranean maritime cultures.
Players will be able to:
- Dispatch an expedition;
- Establish a port;
- Securing trade routes;
- and gradually colonized distant shores.
Over time, these colonies may develop into major independent civilizations.
Possible examples include:
- Kartago;
- Massalia (Marsei);
- Greek colonies in southern Italy;
- Iberian coastal settlements;
- Black Sea Colonies;
- and the Western Mediterranean trade network.
The goal is to recreate the transformation of the Mediterranean from:
- Collapse of the Bronze Age trade system
Transition to:
*Interconnected colonization and ocean world in the classical era.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
