Two-handed weapon one-handed animation

🎮 **Updated to version 1.16**

This mod was originally an edited version of CopyistMonk's one-handed standby-move-crouch-jump mod, used to change most two-handed standby animations to one-handed variations. I've expanded it while fixing some bugs, and it's now divided into different categories that affect different types of weapons.

📥 Installation Guide

**Basic installation (only one option required):**

  • Installed using Mod Engine 2
  • Place the mod folder into the "mod" directory
  • The folder structure should be: `modengine2\mod\name_of_the_mod\chr\dcx file`

**Compatibility Note:**

  • Compatibility with mods such as The Convergence depends on whether the file has been replaced by another mod
  • If the file is not replaced it should work fine
  • If it has been replaced, you can try to use the files in the DIY folder to merge (it is recommended to back up first)

⚠️ **Note:** If the animation is not smooth and there is no sound, it is most likely a compatibility issue

---

🔄 Combined installation

**To install multiple animation options at the same time:**

You need to use Yabber tool to merge:

  • 🎯 Select the desired animation file from the "DIY files" folder
  • 📋 Paste and replace the file "c0000_a1x-anibnd-dcx" in the "chr" folder
  • 📦 Drag the entire folder to Yabber.exe for packaging
  • 📁 Place the generated `c0000_a1x-anibnd.dcx` file into the module folder of Mod Engine 2
  • 🔧 The same method can be used to merge other modules that modify the c0000_a************.dcx file

---

🛠️ Custom modifications

**Tools Required:**

  • Yabber
  • UXM (self-extract files only)
  • Elden Ring Debug Tool (recommended, can display the currently playing animation file)

**File structure reference:**

**Batch renaming tips:**

Use Windows Command Prompt to batch rename and avoid manually renaming 150+ files

---

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES

**List of files not to replace:**

**Most weapons:**

  • 🛡️ Defense action related files
  • 🛡️ Defense startup related files
  • 🛡️ Files related to fallback defense
  • 🛡️ Files related to attacks being blocked
  • 🛡️ Walking defense related documents

**Amulet and Shield Specific:**

  • 📿 Talisman defense related documents
  • 🛡️ Shield defense related documents

** Mullard Specific: **

  • 🛡️ Mullard Defense related documents

**Combat skill animation optimization:**

If you don't like the character to maintain the weapon posture for a short time after using combat skills, you can replace specific files to achieve instant switching.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
