🎭 Customize your decoration set (under development)

🛠️ Tool preparation

  • Install Mod Engine 2.1
  • Install DSMapStudio
  • Install Toggle Helmet Visibility

⚙️ Setup steps

Open DSMapStudio, go to [File] and create [New Project]. This will create a project folder where we will make all modifications to the regulation.bin file that comes with the Toggle Helmet Visibility mod. Close DSMapStudio. For convenience, create a shortcut to the DSMapStudio.exe file in the project folder.

The Toggle Helmet Visibility module comes with a `\togglehelm\` folder, which contains the `\msg` and `\parts` folders and a regulation.bin file. Copy and paste the regulation.bin file into the project folder, replacing the existing file.

🪖 Create a decorative helmet

Drag the project.json file into the shortcut you created for DSMapStudio.exe to open the project.

Select the Param Editor tab in DSMapStudio. The interface will display 3 columns. Select [SpEffectVfxParam] in the first column. In the second column, select [869500 Override Helm]. In the third column, look for [Transform - Protector ID (transformProtectorId)]. You need to change this number to the row number of the helmet you want to decorate the set of (you can find the row number and row ID in this table).

🛡️ Create decorative armor

Now that the decorative helmet is set up, let's set up the decorative armor. I'll first show how to set up the complete suit (e.g. the scale suit) and then show how to modify each part (body, arms and legs) individually.

Go to the second column of the Param Editor, this time select 869501 Override Armor and look for [Transform - Protector ID (transformProtectorId)]. You need to change this number to the row number of the helmet you want to decorate the set of (you can find the row number and row ID in this table).

Click [File] and then [Save All]. Close DSMapStudio. Go to your project folder, copy the regulation.bin file and paste it into your `\togglehelm\` folder. Launch the game, make the Toggle Helmet Visibility mod files in the crafting menu and use them to see the changes.

🔄 Change the body, arms and legs of your decorative suit

Now that your decorating set is working, let's do some mixing and matching. For this step, you need to unpack the game, but only the `\parts\` folder. To do this, download UXM, click [View files], select the `\parts\` folder, check the [Use selected files] option and click [Unpack].

Now, a folder named `\parts\` will appear in your game directory. There you will find the .dcx files for the body, arm, and leg rigs you want to use to decorate the set. You can locate them by their row IDs, which you can find in this table.

Copy the .dcx files you want to use and paste them into the `\parts` folder within the `\togglehelm\` folder. You will need to rename the file to match the row ID of the decorative set item you set in DSMapStudio. In our example, we rename am_m_1660.partsbnd.dcx (Veteran Gauntlets) to am_m_1120.partsbnd.dcx (Scale Gauntlets). Launch the game and see the changes.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
