Medieval Rebalance Project

🛡️Mod Overview

This mod aims to completely remake the weapons and armor system in Elden's Circle to make it more historically accurate. By adjusting action combinations, attribute values, and protective characteristics, we provide players with a more diverse and balanced gaming experience.

---

⚔️ Core functions

**Weapon system remade**:

  • Action combos that convert multiple weapons into light greatswords or banished knight swords
  • Adjust weapon scaling and attributes
  • Added physical defense to weapons with large gauntlets, making two-handed weapons more defensive when used with two hands

**Armor system optimization**:

  • Reworked weights and properties of various armors
  • Let different armor types have unique protective properties, breaking the original linear relationship
  • For example: Banished Knight armor now provides higher physical protection, while standard Knight armor is lighter

---

🎯 Current version content

**Version 0.2 Update**:

  • Contains almost every sword and dagger in the game
  • All bow weapons except harp bow
  • Renamed various weapons to match their historical names

**Modified weapon list**:

  • Dagger categories: dagger, parry dagger, mercy dagger, wakizashi, five-finger sword, etc.
  • Straight swords: long sword, broad sword, lord's straight sword, decorative straight sword, etc.
  • Greatswords: hybrid greatsword, flame-shaped greatsword, Astra greatsword, etc.
  • Others: Rapier, Grossmesser, Lucerne, etc.

**Modified Armor**:

  • Banished Knights, Royal Knights, Wandering Knights
  • Blood Hound, Kallia Knight, Gemir, etc.

---

🔮 Future Plans

**Version Roadmap**:

  • 0.3: Comprehensive adjustments to the armor system
  • 0.4: Covers most scimitars and polearms

**Long term goals**:

  • Make the longbow draw slower but with higher damage, simulating a real war bow
  • Added slashing damage to cutting weapons
  • Final adjustments to enemy damage to keep the game challenging
  • Make leather armor very low in physical protection but higher in magic and poison resistance
  • Filled armor increases slash protection and partial blow protection

---

🎮 Usage suggestions

**Compatibility Tip**:

  • This mod will significantly change the game balance and online use will result in a ban
  • Highly recommended for use with the Seamless Cooperation mod
  • It is recommended to use the following modules to get the best experience:
  • Sendogu's Milady replacer
  • Kellborn's Longsword Replacer
  • Medieval armor pack from CODENAMEDEFCON

**Challenging enhancement**:

  • After player balancing is completed, the damage of most enemies will be increased
  • It is currently recommended to use various "hard mode" modules to make the AI more aggressive

📝 Development background

This mod is a balancing experiment for the development team while making their own medieval RPG game, A Dagger Amongst Swords. The development team consists of nine members, and module updates may be slow because the developer is also a full-time college student, father, and husband.

The ultimate goal is to make the game feel more "medieval" in terms of balance, providing players with a more realistic and in-depth role-playing experience.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
