Mix N Match Units (WIP)Mix N Match Units
Instead of unlocking specific units by researching technologies, unlock chassis and weapon types. The units you can build are the best chassis and the best weapon combination.
The idea is to have "sides" of similarly leveled units in each era, and have different players end up with different units based on the order in which they research technologies and what strategic resources they have access to.
Is there a resource gate to build some weapons/chassis, but if resources are missing you can always build to the previous level. For example, if you don't have Niter, you will still build the Swordsman after researching the Gunpowder.
When new parts become available, units automatically upgrade to the best option in their PromotionClass, which costs no gold.
This work is currently in progress. The scripting aspect is complete, so it's playable, but it's missing a bunch of art definition, and there aren't a lot of new unit types yet
Instead of unlocking specific units by researching techs, unlock Chassis and Weapon types. The units you can build are a combination of the best chassis and best weapon available to you.
The idea is to have "sidegrades" of similar levelled units in each era, and for different players to end up with different ones depending on the order they research techs, and on which strategic resources they have access to.
Resources gate whether you can build some weapon/chassis, but you can always build the previous level if you lack the resource. E.g. You an still build Swordsmen after researching Gunpowder if you don't have Niter.
Units get upgraded automatically to the best option within their PromotionClass when new parts become available, which does not cost gold.
This is currently a work in progress. The scripting side is pretty much done, so it's playable, but it's missing a bunch of art defines and there aren't many new unit types yet.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
