About this mod Machine translation
Deity ++
Want a more difficult solo challenge? You've come to the right place. This mod adds two new difficulty levels, Deity+ and Deity++, which reward progress and yield boosts by linearly extrapolating the starting unit's AI.
The mod also adds two alternative rulesets in which the AI receives fewer or no starting units and instead receives greater conversion bonuses to science, culture, production, etc. These rulesets offer similar functionality to RushSecond's smooth difficulty model, or my own mod for Civilization 5's feudal rankings from back in 2014. The idea is to give the AI even bonuses, rather than a strong starting advantage that forces you to play catch-up throughout the game.
NOTE: The mod does not "improve" AI decision-making in any way. However, care needs to be taken to make it compatible with mods such as AI+, which aim to improve AI tactics and tactics.
All AI bonuses for each of the three alternative rule sets are listed in the table below.
Implementation Comment: Some AI bonuses in the table are marked in red. This represents a situation where I would like to continue increasing bonuses, but this is not possible as all bonuses in the game have a +100% max limit (hardcoded in a part of the code that is currently inaccessible to the encoder). In these cases, the mod instead nerfs the human player spawn, also indicated in red on the right side of the table. (Exception: There are no additional nerfs in the standard ruleset because I wanted to provide an option for playing with the full "vanilla" rules at a level higher than Deity.)
Install
Just unzip to the mod folder, even if everything looks like this:
\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Mods\DeityPlusPlus\[7 files]
Don't forget to restart Civilization and enable the mod in the main menu under Additional Content. When you start a new game the mod will be active (for games without the mod it will not work).
Finally, select the difficulty as usual in the base game creation screen. If you want to use the option of reducing the AI's starting units, use the Advanced Settings menu and select an alternative in the Rule Set drop-down list (see screenshot below). Compatibility Deity++ does not replace any existing files, it only changes the settings related to the difficulty level, so it should be compatible with almost any other mod that does not adjust the difficulty level. But so far I've only done it with AI+ and Milder Agendas & Relations
Want a more difficult single player challenge? You've come to the right place. This mod adds two new difficulty levels, Deity+ and Deity++, by extrapolating linearly the AI bonus progression of starting units and yield boosts.
The mod also adds two alternative rulesets, in which the AI gets fewer or no starting units, and instead gets larger per-turn bonuses to science, culture, production, etc. These rulesets provide similar functionality to the Smoother Difficulty mod by RushSecond, or to my own mod Feudal Ranks for Civilization 5 from way back in 2014. The idea is to give the AI an even progression of bonuses instead of an enormous starting advantage that forces you to play catchup throughout the game.
Note: the mod DOES NOT "improve" AI decision making in any way. However, care was taken to make it compatible with mods such as AI+, which do aim to improve AI strategy and tactics.
All AI bonuses for each of the three alternative rulesets are listed in the table below.
Implementation comment: some of the AI bonuses are marked with red in the table. This indicates cases where I would prefer to continue increasing the bonuses, but that was impossible because all bonuses in the game have a maximum limit of +100% (hard-coded in a part of the code that modders currently cannot access). In these cases, the mod instead nerfs human player yields, also indicated with red in the right part of the table. Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
