Darkleaf's Slavery Mod + Bonus Addons

The purpose of this MOD is to accurately depict slavery as being of cultural, religious and historical importance to humanity. Slaves were drafted or captured for various purposes.

I also added Palace, Barracks and Stable Dependent unit. Guard towers are slow, weak, cheap, and useful for defending your city. Rome is a bit lackluster in this initial version, as they are the focus of this mod. As more and more versions come out, other countries will be significantly reduced. Especially the Aztecs, Egyptians, Sumerians and Chinese.

unit:

Slaves - All Civilizations -

Slow, cheap, but effective! 2 establishment costs and 1 movement. Very cheap, but requires Slave Den construction (unlocks pottery) Even on Epic Speed you can build one in a few turns. Whenever a slave uses a charge, it has a 10% chance to spawn a slave rebel (a weak barbarian unit). This percentage can be lowered, removed, or increased, depending on the buildings and units you have nearby. Add the next patch!

Slave Master - All Civilizations -

A weak but fleet unit that deals +5 damage to injured units. When this unit defeats an enemy unit, it creates a Thrall. Requires Slave Den to build.

Slave Hunter - Not applicable to Aztecs -

A Knight Elf whose base damage is slightly increased, injured units take +5 damage, and have 5 moves. Loot improvements also provide a slight chance of creating slaves. Requires Slave Den to build.

Slave Catcher - for American, Brazilian and Aztec -

A Renaissance/Industrial era slave hunter unit that deals extra damage to rebels/barbarians and gets the same bonuses as slave hunters. Requires Slave Den to build.

Warlord - now only for Rome - still testing unit -

This could be a global unit, almost a buildable, slightly weaker Grand General/Admiral. There will also be a *Captain* added, which will give nearby units a defensive bonus and heal them slightly.

Noble - Not Aztec -

First house units are expensive but powerful. Gain +5 defensive damage when adjacent to ranged units (feature not added in next patch). Aztec will get a specific version of Noble.

Install Noble - Aztec not provided -

1st House Unit This is expensive but powerful. The equipped version of Noble gains +5 defensive damage when adjacent to Ranged Units (feature not added to the next patch) and deals more base damage.

Shaman - Applies to Aztec, Chinese, Egyptian, German, Japanese, Vajra, Sumerian due to changes -

A cheaper, buildable healer/preacher unit that can withstand combat attacks. Has 2 spread costs but only 50 religious power. (This unit may become global)

Druid - Available in England and France -

A constructible healer/apostle unit that can defend against combat attacks and starts at level 2. There are 2 spreading charges and 110 religious powers.

Gladiator - only available in Rome -

Melee units, when attacking, deal increased damage to melee units, and deal +5 damage to injured units. Requires the addition of the Amphitheater Flavium (unique Roman building): the slave fee used by the city using Flavium will create a gladiator unit.

Selection - Available for Germany, Norway and Scythia -

Melee units deal +5 damage to injured units. Barracks are needed.

Oath - for England, France and Spain -

Melee units deal +5 damage to melee units. Barracks are needed.

Jaguar Warrior - Only for Aztecs -

Melee units deal +5 damage to ranged/siege units. Barracks are needed.

Heavy Phalanx - available in Rome, Greece, Egypt, Spain and Sumer -

Melee units gain +10 combat damage while defending. Barracks are needed.

Lancer - Not applicable to Aztec -

Your standard issue cavalry lancers take +2 bonus damage AKA increased damage to victim units. Stability is needed. Skirmisher - Available for all civs - Powerful early game shock infantry. African Hunter - only available in Kongo and Egypt -

Ranged shock infantry units do not require barracks or iron.

Throw Axeman - for France, Germany and Norway -

Requires barracks and iron ranged assault infant …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
