About this mod Machine translation

AIOnlyBattle for Drew Durnil

This is a mode that makes AI Only Battles more interesting.

The AI needs some tweaking to make more cities and games more interesting. You just need to use autoplay (available at civfanatics). Might be AI+ but there have been some changes (but not AI related changes).

Finished it mostly because I like watching Drew Durnil AI only fight sometimes because I like the way he reviews the game. But honestly, his first attempt at Civ 6 was (as expected because of Civ 6), a bit boring since the AI almost never captured any cities.

Even with the really cool reviews, the game is still stuck to watch imho.

If anyone knows him, let him know it's here

To be honest, I mostly re-tweaked the changes from other mods, changing a few values here and there to make it more suitable for AI-only combat.

I found the results to be quite good, with the AI really capturing more cities throughout the game, even in later eras. In later eras, the time without this model is about 10-20 times.

But still much less than in the early era, which is minimal since the best 10(mod) Probably not enough, but about 10x too low is always "not that low" right?

Of course it can still be better, feel free to modify it and reassign it if you want, in my case I didn't have any problem. The files are commented and very simple and can be edited honestly, if you find something that might be better suited for AI combat then feel free to do so. Anyone is welcome to use/modify/steal/whatever.

Of course, this mod isn't meant to be played as a human at all, you'll find something that could be exploited by someone I bet.

Change log, main changes:

  • Make cities weaker
  • makes cities stronger when without units (also makes them weaker without that unit, and it still makes sense IRL)
  • Increase the minimum distance between cities to 4 to help the AI establish zones, help them support armies, etc. Can also help them in combat as they are not always that good in tight places
  • Lower differential wall strength
  • Not to mention war comfort loss (cause the AI tends to make barbs break out frequently leading to rebellions)
  • Deal minor damage per battle (to avoid holding tons for long periods of time in a war and make "exploitation" more decisive)
  • Gives the attacker a bit of an advantage over def to help the AI attack (just slightly, to compensate for the defence, cities tend to help too much). Also works in cities by lowering the terrain def score.

Minor changes:

  • Reduced ranged and siege strength just to make up for the previous changes regarding attackers, which helped them outperform even melee units
  • Crafted for kings, so set stimulus AI is +20% and gold is +100%. Science/Culture unchanged (King +8%)
  • Later time improved slightly but much less than at 8 years old
  • Made 4 charges against military engineers, but not sure the AI tends to do anything interesting with them
  • The map part of ynamp has been explained, it is completely optional

Finally, I'm not sure I'll support it (maybe?) since I have other projects now, so if someone wants to take over, or create another mod based on it, that's no problem with me!

The changelist is very self explanatory in the mod file. This is my first time releasing a mod, so it may not be perfect. Also, I claim there is no real work, it's more of a compilation with changes from many existing mods.

PS: Sorry for my English, it's not my native language.

This is a mod to make AI Only Battles more interesting to watch.

AI needs some tweaks to take more cities and games more fun to watch. You only need Autoplay (available at civfanatics) with this. Possibly AI+ but some changes are already here (but not AI related changes).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
