Ad Victoriam Civilization 6 core improvements

This is a personal project of mine. The core concept is to take a lot of good ideas from my own or other mods and combine them into a cohesive mod. It eventually trickled down and pretty much every little thing could be found in the game's files.

This is not a mod for people who like balanced games. Just like real life, civilizations and countries are more powerful than other civilizations. The early game Roman army will be stronger than using a good legion, such as Brazil, whose bonuses are more suitable for the mid to late game. But in my opinion, that's the fun of it. Not everyone has an equal place in this world, and I hope this model proves that.

With the odds stacked against you, can you build a civilization that will stand the test of time?

change

civilization list

Every civilization and leader (except Kongo/Mvemba) has been touched.

Kongo/Mvemba already has incredibly powerful bonuses.

Some old features have been removed in favor of new features, while others have had something added.

Several civilizations have an expanded or altered list of city names.

Added some Start Biases to help Civs get their best start.

Each leader has a new color scheme. Some are completely different, while others are minor tweaks.

diplomatic

Adjusted warmonger and war exhaustion penalties. Not harsh overall.

Adjusted diplomacy values make the AI less spasmodic while also punishing broken promises.

An overhaul of the random agenda. All of this is new, with more variables for more unique gameplay.

Significantly strengthen government. Each one has some new modifiers that make them suitable for better niches.

Some old policies have been slightly increased.

Several new policies have been added to add variety to the game.

terrain

Changed the output of some tiles and features.

Resources have also been increased. Why are cows given only 1 type of food?

The production of natural wonders increases even more.

Including gold resources! (If you have the Australia DLC)

Changed a few things about improvements, including some unique new things.

Support for Sukritact resources is included, but not required.

Includes support for Sukritact's Fuji and Tonle Sap Natural Wonders.

houses

Most buildings have changed in some way. Most offer bonus benefits for certain resources you've improved.

Most areas have also been affected. Maintenance costs have been increased to help balance the economy.

Regions also have adjacent changes. Downtown gets them too!

Wonders of the World now feels...well...awesome!

New district projects have been added.

unit

The movement of almost every unit has changed.

Light cavalry always moves faster than heavy cavalry.

Later game units have longer range.

New resource handling that gives you certain bonuses based on the resources you control.

miscellaneous

Several parameters have been changed.

Changes range from Barbarians being less painful to Goody Huts being more worthwhile.

The wonders of the world have become more expensive.

Trade routes have completely changed. Now there is a cost, but the benefits are always worth it.

text

The history of Sukritact is included in the game files.

Furthermore, many historical things in the text have changed. Examples include Indonesia being known as the Majapahit Empire and Philip II being known as Felipe II.

Permissions

This mod wouldn't exist without the hard work and good ideas of many content creators. I always ask the original creator for permission to include the code before publishing. Therefore, I would like to thank them for their contribution to this project

Iroh-Q - Dynamic Diplomacy - Great friend and model who has helped me get out of many blockages. Thank you very much to him.

Squid Pro Quo/isau - Quo's Combined Tweaks - The core inspiration for me to start modding. The entire project started as a modified version of his mod. I can't thank him enough.

JFD - Rules of Faith - Implications for government change and policy. One …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
