✨ About this mod

The Odyssey of Alexios and Kassandra is an epic saga of family, war, and the unpredictable will of the gods. In order to allow our community to experience the mercenary's journey more immersively, this project provides a localized experience translated from the original English text. While official localizations can sometimes appear stilted or overly literal, this mod aims to inject local "flavor" and cultural nuances while retaining the historical weight of Ancient Greece.

My goal is to provide an authentic experience. I rejected rigid, mechanical translations and instead used language that suited the style of this high-stakes open-world RPG.

📊 Statistics and Quality Assurance

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey has a massive script (approximately 59,496 lines). To ensure quality, I used Smart Checker to calculate semantic scores based on text length, ambience similarity through classification, and HDBSCAN cluster analysis.

Lower scores in some areas reflect the challenge of translating concise English into more expressive Austronesian languages (Indonesian/Malay/Tagalog) without creating AI “illusions”. Here is the latest quality assurance snapshot:

The lower scores in the QA snapshot reflect a fundamental linguistic challenge: brevity versus expressiveness. English in RPGs is often extremely concise, while Austronesian languages (Indonesian/Malay/Tagalog) are inherently more expressive and have more words. To prevent AI hallucinations (adding unnecessary information), I have tuned the model to be as close to the original text as possible, even if this affects the mathematical "atmosphere" score.

You'll notice that translation completion is between **85% - 89%**. The remaining ~10-15%** consists of technical UI strings, proper names (places/gods) and specific item tags. Translating these specific lines often results in a "clunky" experience or breaks game immersion. I've kept these in their original English to ensure the UI remains clear and identifiable.

🤝 Recruiting contributors

I'm currently looking for native Filipino (Tagalog) speakers to help perfect the "mechanical" edge of AI translation. If you want to improve nuances or report mistranslations, please leave a message in the comments section!

**PS**: This project is currently in the **experimental stage**. You may encounter some "weird" translations and watermarks before reaching Release Candidate (RC) builds. The non-watermarked version is currently only available to backers.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
