Lockpicking XP Fix is a very simple fix for an old source of frustration. In vanilla Skyrim, locked chests and doors provide experience exactly one time. That means you won’t get any more experience when revisiting previously cleared dungeons and burglarized buildings, and Baan Dar help you if you made Lockpicking legendary.

This mod changes that with just a couple of forms and lightweight scripts, letting you get Lockpicking experience every single time you pick a lock.

How It Works

First, the mod blocks the game’s default source of lockpicking success experience. This does not prevent you from getting experience from broken picks, books, or trainers.

As you play the game, lightweight scripts keep track of the last lock you examined and watch for when you open a lock with a pick. Experience is awarded based on the lock difficulty and the lock experience values in the game settings.

And that’s all there is to it.

Compatibility

Compatible with any mod as long as 1) Lockpicking is still Lockpicking, and 2) it doesn’t have its own new system of Lockpicking experience distribution.

Compatible with any mod that changes the lockpicking experience values in the game settings.

Incompatible (and not needed) with Aetherial Traveller. Incompatible with any other perk overhaul that changes the Lockpicking skill into something else. However, these mods usually add experience for lockpicking activities to a different tree in their own way, so this mod isn’t even needed in those cases.
