About this mod Author’s original text

MM Recomp Music Randomizer (v1.1.1)

Reimplements the music randomization features from MMR.

The best place to find custom music tracks for MM is the music-releases channel on the MMR Discord. If you need an OOT audiobin for OoTRS files, you can download one from their website. You can also find all of my own soundfont adaptations on my GitHub.

If you want to report any, please contact me on the N64 Recomp Discord, N64 Recomp Modding Discord, DM me on Discord directly at @asticky, or open an issue on GitHub.

Instructions:

Drag and drop all mod files (the.nrm, and the.dll for Windows,.so for Linux, or.dylib for MacOS) into your mods directory, or use the Install Mods button on the Zelda64 Recomp Launcher's mod menu.

To add custom music, create a mod_data folder in the same directory as mods, then create a music folder and drop your.mmrs files inside that. (i.e., on Windows, AppData\Local\Zelda64Recompiled\mod_data\music.) These directories will be created on launching the game if they do not exist.

A database will be created in the mod_data folder, which will add or remove tracks based on filenames and modification dates. If you want to reset your music database, you can delete mod_data\musicDB.db.

New in 1.1: You can also use.ootrs files made for Ocarina of Time Randomizer! Download an audiobin from MMR's website and place it in your mod_data folder, and it should Just Work (TM).

Your folder structure should look like this:

⌞Zelda64Recompiled

⌞mods

⌞mm_recomp_music_randomizer.nrm

⌞mm_recomp_music_randomizer_extlib(.dll|.so|.dylib)

⌞magemods_audio_api.nrm

⌞magemods_audio_api(.dll|.so|.dylib)

⌞mod_data

⌞music.db

⌞OOT.audiobin (optional)

⌞music

⌞(.mmrs,.ootrs,.zseq files)

Features:

  • Reads and interprets.mmrs,.ootrs, and.zseq files
  • Shuffles both vanilla and custom music using (mostly) the same categories as MMR
  • Supports custom sounds, custom audiobanks, and.formmask
  • Adds a toggle to enable or disable combat music
  • Displays the name of the currently-playing song on load

New in 1.1!

  • Added support for.ootrs and.zseq files!
  • ~~Put a band-aid over~~ Fixed an issue where songs would fail to load, which can lead to a softlock on the credits scene
  • Added a loading screen with status updates for database updating
  • Added a fix for beta versions of the mod persisting after updating to release versions
  • Fixed a few bugs and edge cases

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
