Majora's Mask Recompiled DOOM Mod
Disclaimer
This mod was very much made in jest and is mostly just intended as a proof of concept. Expect plenty of bugs, softlocks and other buggy interactions if you mess around with it.
Features
Play DOOM on a desktop PC placed within the game world itself. You can bring up the desktop at any time by pressing L + R and put it away with the same combination.
Installation
- Install the mod in Zelda 64: Recompiled.
- Before running the game, make sure you have a DOOM1.WAD file in the mods folder.
- If you don't own DOOM, you can use the shareware version which is freely available online.
- You can find the mods folder by just pressing "Open Mods Folder" in the "Mods" tab in Zelda 64: Recompiled.
- Run the game! Test it out by pressing L + R once you have control of Link.
Special thanks
- doomgeneric for providing an easy way to port DOOM.
- Wiseguy for providing general code assistance and material tweaking.
- Reonu for providing the desk model and the animations for Link as well as adding Linux building.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
