Removed excessive penalty for suppressed reaction shots

Changed suppression so it behaves similar to the Long War B15F, where suppressed reactive fire does not suffer the standard compensating penalty.

Having the mission timer stall mid-combat isn't the best game right now either, so I added suppression utility. With these improvements, I also increased the alien's suppressed target penalty (configurable in the ini) to match XCOM's suppressed target penalty, so this ability is no longer useless for either side.

This mod also makes suppressing no longer require the target's walking tile to be inside the LOS in order for a reaction shot to occur (in vanilla, this would lead to the awkward thing where it would just continue to suppress the target as they repositioned without taking a reaction shot, and then, the target would then take the suppressed shot from outside the LOS)

All these properties can be individually toggled via ini editing.

WARNING: As any XCOM 2 mod does, saving the game with the mod enabled will cause saving the game to only work when the mod is enabled, as this is a tweaked mode using an existing template, content should not be lost after disabling the mod so for now you will have to fix it with this mod, if you decide to disable the mod

question? Please follow this guide first! It may solve your problem (works with all mods)

Compatibility Note:

This mod overrides the template 'SuppressionShot', which may be incompatible with mods that change the same template.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
