About this mod Machine translation
Trained in marksmanship and rapid assault tactics, Stormtroopers are fearless frontline soldiers who bring mobile firepower to the battlefield. With SMGs and experimental light fire projectors, Shock Troopers focus on fast movement operations and hit-and-run attacks.
Shock Troopers come equipped with SMGs and a new secondary weapon, the "FireStarter" - a lightweight flamethrower. They are highly mobile and dangerous if positioned well and allowed to exploit their flanks and their multiple AoE attacks. They are also capable of inflicting a variety of debilitating effects on enemies, making them effective in crowd control and allowing them to deal with the desperate struggles of frontline combat. A Shock Trooper is encouraged to always be on the move looking for the right spot, allowing them to land a critical hit on a critical target or lay waste to large swaths of terrain with a flamethrower. Plus, play one and you'll likely see cute Viper panic animations!
The purpose of this mod is to create a class that is fun to use and that doesn't step on the toes of any other class of characters. The result is a mobile damage-dealing class that features some interesting threat management techniques and is effective at attacking multiple targets in interesting and varied ways. I'm trying to keep a balance, and hopefully Shock Trooper isn't more effective overall than any other class. Using the Blitz Tree, a Shock Trooper utilizes the FireStarter and the stock of his rifle to reliably inflict a debilitating effect on enemies, weakening and panicking them. In the Marksmanship tree, a Shock Trooper learns various techniques that allow for powerful surgical strikes, useful multi-target attacks, and survivability improvements. Overall, Shock Trooper focuses on frontline disruption or cleanup roles.
Note: To allow people to play the way they want, and not strictly require the SMG pack to run, Shock Troopers are able to equip basic rifles. However, if you choose to use them, you may find that the Shock Trooper is quite effective in its shooting skills and lacks the mobility to take advantage of the FireStarter and flanking abilities. I don't really know how balanced it might be, but I'm kind of curious if anyone wants to try it and tell me.
ability:
Note: Numerical values for many skills are configurable in XcomShocktrooperAbilities.ini.
Squaddie: Momentum and Flame Burst
Momentum will give the Shock Trooper a dodge boost if they move on their last turn, encouraging constant movement.
Flame Burst is FireStarter's basic attack and is very short. This attack does not trigger terrain, but it does have a chance to burn and disorient the target. 2 turns to cool down.
Corporal: Penetration Burst and Preparation
Penetrating Burst is an SMG attack in a straight line, allowing the Shock Trooper to hit multiple enemies and foes. Consumes 2 points of ammunition and has a 3-turn cooldown.
Preparation is a passive survivability boost that increases health and stun resistance, and grants a point of armor.
Sheriff: Adrenaline and a cleaner room
Adrenaline provides 1 point of healing and increases dodge, critical strike, and aiming shock troopers by 10 points. This is a 3 turn cooldown.
Room Clearer is a more advanced attack using FireStarter that affects short cones and increases the chance of panicking the target. 3 turns to cool down.
Lieutenant: Put 'em down, squirt and prey (that's a nice pun and not a typo)
Lets them mark a target down as a free action, increasing the chance against them by 5% and increasing the critical damage they take by 2. The debuff lasts for 2 turns and the skill has a 3-turn cooldown.
Spray and Prey is an SMG attack that hits all enemies in a short, wide cone. Consumes 2 ammo and has a 3-round cooldown.
Captain: walk away from it and deal with it
Its shutdown allows Shock Trooper to avoid death per mission and instead heal to 2 HP.
Resolve is a dashing melee attack that does no damage but causes the target to turn and s …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
