This mod provides recon reporting capabilities to any GREMLIN user
This mod provides any GREMLIN user with reconnaissance protocol capabilities. It will send GREMLIN to a specific area and then backwards.
This will clear the fog of war until the end of the turn and you will see if there are enemies in the area, but they won't be constantly spotted.
TACTICAL INFORMATION
Reconnaissance Protocol is simply an additional ability given to any GREMLIN-equipped soldier.
Reconnaissance protocols do not in any other way undermine concealment or alert the enemy.
Unlike the scanning protocol, the recon protocol does not reveal hidden faceless or burrowing Chryssalids.
The purpose of the Scouting Protocol is to provide safe scouting early in the game without having to rely on concealment.
Similar to XCOM Operators, GREMLIN's vision will not go through a strict cover.
Normally, the recon protocol will lock your camera to GREMLIN, but if there are any other XCOM operators, you can press TAB to open the camera immediately after activating the recon protocol. This should make it more convenient.
CONFIGURATION
By default, the reconnaissance protocol:
Spend an action.
There is no cooldown time.
There are unlimited fees.
It won't end.
All this, as well as the capability range and radius can be configured in "Config\XComScoutingProtocol.ini".
For example, you could make Scouting Protocol a free action but give it a 1-2 cooldown. Or just give yourself some fees per mission.
Giving Recon Protocol a huge display radius doesn't really work since the overlay blocks vision.
compatibility
Compatible with Long Term War 2. Because Reconnaissance Protocol is just an add-on capability to GREMLIN,
It should be compatible with anything that doesn't replace the default GREMLIN name.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
