About this mod Machine translation

Added some war chronicles to XCOM, giving them ranked soldier potential. They might learn to be effective alien killers, they might become major cowards who want to go home the second they see someone bleeding. Sometimes they may only work for people they like.

Once the mission is completed, the potential is assigned to the soldier if they meet the grade requirements and they have not yet been assigned a potential final mission.

Level requirements are:

Squaddie's first potential for soldiers. (This is mainly to support that it is positive most of the time).

The sergeant is the second potential of the soldier.

And mainly the third potential for soldiers.

Potential comes in two flavors, the default setting, Normal, which mainly does things like stat boosts, and the "Extreme" variant which has more mechanical changes.

potential list

Base game

front:

City People - in city centers and slums missions

Randomize buffs to stats Small Town People - Randomize buffs to stats in Small Town, Wilderness and Shanty Town missions

Alien Killer - Added objectives against organic alien units

Coming Killer - Against ADVENT as above

Killer Machine - Like above but against machines

Bodyguard - buffs selected stats (ie target, crit, wil) when a lineup has a majority of low level soldiers

Followers - select stats when buffing (IE Mobility, Crit, Will) Have the majority of higher level soldiers

Masochist's Squad - When Injured

Randomly adds buff to stats when working as a professional lover - adds to stats if in most squads of the same class

(Extreme) Heroes Never Die - Get a second chance at life on kills, effectively maintaining an inability to stagnate.

(Extreme) Poison Tolerance - Gain immunity to poisons

(Extreme) Steelheart - Gain immunity to mental debuffs

Negative:

Fear of Aliens - Reduced targeting of organic alien units

Fear of showing up - as above but against taking risks

Fear of machines - as above but against mechanical units

Hates Cities - City Center and Slums missions

Random debuffs for Hate the Outdoors - Random debuffs in Town, Wilderness and Shanty missions

Hates FNGs - reduced stats in most lineups of low-level soldiers

Rebellious Rookie - In a lineup with mostly higher level soldiers

giving statistics

Debuff Fatalist - Reduces stats when injured Gloryhog - Most companions at the same level

(Extreme) Coward's mid-stat debuff - pod shows itself every time it takes a forced defensive action (so if you have All Pods active, this may only trigger once)

(Extreme) Fear of blood - chance of fainting every time injured (i.e. shocking two APs)

(EXTREME) Panicky Reloader - Can waste an action point to randomly reload a weapon, with a chance that can be extended to 50% each turn as the mission continues

Squad Mechanics

(Think mod like Squad Cohesion)

positive:

Happy Collaborators - If working with a squad they know very well (at least 25 players score in most cases) they

Gain a stat buff (Friend Maker). Squads gain 5 cohesion points during mission deployments as this trooper encourages people to talk to each other on Skyranger Ride Over

Negative:

Tsundere - If working with a team they know very well (in most

If at least 25 players on the team score), they will have a negative impact on the statistics. Troublemaker - The squad gains -5 Cohesion Deployments during the mission due to this soldier's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ riding in the Skyranger

Soldier customization affected

(Basically this can be easily undone if you bother converting the soldier's traits, which I still did because some people won't bother that much.)

front:

Like men - in a majority of men

Buffs that gain buffs in a lineup that favors women - Gain buffs in a lineup that favors women

Negative:

Misogynist - Most women in a team

Misandrist's lineup gains the debuff - in a mostly male squad

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
