So far I've added 64 new soldier backgrounds and 5 new backstories to the engineer and scientist biopools. These include mods that were discontinued in August. Additionally, I now support thegrimsqueaker72 (Birthdates). I highly recommend you do this. There are still some wrinkles in the code, but it's well done.
My mod is not compatible with any mod that changes [Engineer X2CharacterTemplate], [Scientist X2CharacterTemplate] or [Soldier X2CharacterTemplate] in XComGame.int. Otherwise there should be no compatibility issues. If you have any other mods that change these tables, you can enter them manually using a text editor.
From what I've found, you only see the engineer or scientist's backstory when you first hire them from the black market. I'm not sure if they can be viewed anywhere else. But change exists.

- Unzip the file
- Copy the files to the MODS folder
- Run the game
