A mod that replaces the names of troop groups with more meaningful ones.
About this mod Machine translation
A mod that replaces the names of troop groups with more meaningful ones.
What this Mod does
This mod changes the names of XCOM unit classes in the game according to a system based on the CIA ranking system. see below:
Rookies -> Junior Athletics Agent (JFA)
Squaddie -> Field Agent (FA)
Corporal -> Senior Field Agent (SFA)
Sheriff -> Chief Field Agent (CFA)
Lieutenant -> Junior Agent (JSA)
Captain -> Agent (SA)
Major -> Senior Agent (SSA)
Colonel -> Chief Agent (CSA)
Commodore -> Elite Operating Agent (EOA)
This includes all references to old levels elsewhere in the game - now, for example, instead of having "Rookies" for scanning somewhere, you'll get "Junior Field Agents"!
This mod also changes all references to XCOM's "soldiers" to instead say XCOM's "agents". This was done because while "soldiers" may be technically correct, it really doesn't feel right - after all, XCOM units are not just ordinary soldiers, they are part of a top-secret, off-the-books, under-the-radar elite multinational resistance effort! Plus, "agent" sounds cooler. bring it on. You agree with me. This mod will not
do what
This mod doesn't affect the names of the classes, including Psi Operatives, or that magical thing I didn't encounter, but I haven't even finished my first playthrough yet. These things may be affected in the future if I or enough people think it's appropriate.
This mod does not affect the audio in any way, including voice lines. While I have a microphone and Audacity, what I don't have is contacts with many of the game's voice actors or decent impression skills, so unfortunately when the characters speak they will be using the old squad and call unit "soldiers" (if they already did either of those in the vanilla game - I didn't notice it, so they probably don't have voice lines like this).
Please note that I don't own a copy of Select Wars and probably won't be using it for a long time, so if WOTC adds any new levels or anything like that, this mod won't affect them.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
