About this mod Machine translation
An infantry class with many new skills has been added to the game.
I think I have a working animation of a zone of control counterattack. It's not as smooth as I'd like (there's a bit of lag there), but at least it doesn't break the infantry soldier animation anymore.
Latest version 1.5.5:
Fixed an issue with the Alien Hunters DLC preventing infantry from equipping armor.
Initial release: February 25, 2016
This is a pet model I've been working on for a while. I started missing the basic rifleman class in the Long War mod and decided to create one of my own. Infantrymen use rifles as their primary weapons and pistols as their secondary weapons.
Infantry squads have two special trees: "regular" infantry and "irregular" infantry. Regular is a tough client, capable of taking some hits and acting as an obstacle to the enemy's progress when necessary. Irregular is designed to put pressure on the enemy, favoring some way of exploiting a superior position and escaping from tight spots where they can be placed.
In the interest of full disclosure, I must remind users that many of the abilities I created for this course are the product of finding new things to learn and practice in the Xcom 2 development tools. That's not to say I didn't build this class with fun and balance in mind, but I sometimes get influenced in my decision-making by thinking "Hey, isn't that a cool ability? I wonder if I can do that in the game?"
Regardless, I had a lot of fun designing, implementing, and testing this class, and I hope you enjoy playing with it.
If you want to mess around with the parameters of custom abilities, many are exposed in the 'XComLucubrationsInfantryClass.ini' file (search for it in your Steam directory).
compatibility:
There are no compatibility issues that I've tested, and generally there won't be any issues, but I strongly suspect it will specifically conflict with other mods that add the "Infantry" class to the game due to resource naming conflicts.
Known bugs:
While the mechanics of zone of control counterattacks work fine, there is currently no animation when the counterattack occurs. This is because Xcom humans don't have counter animations. This is probably beyond my scope to fix.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
