This is a mod for XCOM2 that adds a number of gameplay options that players can select in the game options menu during the event as well as some quality of life improvements.
All options appear in the new options menu that appears after you start a new campaign, either after the tutorial or during Gatecrasher. Effects can be switched during gameplay.
Installation instructions
From the zip archive, place the folder LW_Toolbox and its contents into your version of C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods folder.
To play:
Check the LW_Toolbox mod in the launcher.
Automatic changes to this mod include several options for the squad selection UI. They are:
Make Available Weapons: Take out the primary weapons from all soldiers not selected for the mission.
Clear Squad: Remove all soldiers from the squad.
AUTOFILL SQUAD: Automatically fills all empty player slots with the highest ranked soldier.
Additionally, the soldier list UI has been redesigned to display soldier statistics.
All other options can be selected in the Toolbox tab of the Options menu (usually accessed by pressing the Esc key). After launching the activity, open the escape menu and select EDIT OPTIONS; then select the LW TOOLBOX option. NOTE: These options do not appear in the shell, only in campaigns.
The options are:
SET CAMERA ROTATION (Degrees): This allows the player to control the increment of camera rotation using the rotation button and any associated hotkeys.
SELECT DEFAULT SQUADSIZE: This allows the player to set the maximum number of soldiers that can be in a squad. The Guerrilla Tactics School Bonus will be added to this number once completed. The UI and mission deployment code will now support squads of up to 12 soldiers. NOTE: The mod will not balance any increased squad size selected by the player.
DAMAGE ROULETTE: This allows players to modify the randomness of all weapon damage in the game (Alien and XCOM) by a common percentage. Off means the game will use baseline mechanics. A setting of 25% means the damage change is +/- 25% of the weapon's base damage. This will override any weapon specific ini settings.
Creates no equality: This allows all soldiers to have their starting stats randomized (via a random series of configurable "trade" stats). This takes effect immediately (even mid-mission). Turning it off will restore the soldier's base stats. Soldiers memorize randomized stats, so turning them on and off continuously is not an exploit. This option can be used at any time with the Avengers, or during the first round of tactical missions, assuming no one is injured. (In addition to creating a simple exploit, switching a soldier's stats mid-mission might kill those solders and take some of their health away if they're injured
Replace. ) Hidden Potential: Randomizes stats as soldiers level up. NOTE: The Easter Egg special soldiers will not be randomly upgraded with random stats.
RED FOG: This allows wounds to affect stat attacks, mobility, hacking, and stats. Players choose who RED FOG affects - XCOM, Aliens, both or none. Some aliens (set in LW_Toolbox.ini) are immune to this as it renders them useless.
Use linear red FOG penalties (in quadratic units): Red Fog's default functionality applies penalties in such a way that minor wounds cause very small penalties, while severe wounds cause larger damage. Linear application means the effect is insignificant - a mild/moderate wound inflicts a greater penalty than the same wound in the quadratic equation.
Allow COMBAT to auto-resolve: This will activate a button in the squad selection UI, allowing the player to automatically resolve tactical combat for the currently selected squad, rather than executing the mission.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
