About this mod Machine translation

Basic ini tweaks leave it with no overtly superior heavy weapon selection.

This mod only contains some basic .ini tweaks to the game files that can change some heavy weapon stats.

I personally feel, after doing a few trial unlocks, that some of the heavy weapons aren't optimal for others.

This mod attempts to balance which heavy weapons you will perform by making the following changes:

Flamethrower and Hellfire Projector (Heavy Flamethrower) Heavy Weapons:

  • In vanilla, does less damage than other alternatives (rockets, fragments), ineffective against robots.

-Earn one charge each time, for a total of two uses per mission to compensate.

  • Flamethrower/Inferno spread significantly increased (listed under "Radius" when loading)

Plasma shock wave:

  • In vanilla, have the strictest target for all HWs (straight lines instead of cones or AOEs).
  • Damage increased to 11-12 (highest among all HW). Piercing, but not piercing, up to 6 armor (similar to vanilla).

Shredders and shredders:

  • Slight (15-20%) reduction in Crusher/Shredder range (spread listed under "Radius when loading")

Patch 1.2: Information such as range in soldier loadouts should now be accurate.

Use XCOM mods as usual, if you install it and then uninstall it, any games saved with the mod will not load.

Feel free to incorporate this mod into any more comprehensive mod of your own. If so, a quote in the readme would be appreciated.

This mod will not overwrite the native .ini, but may conflict with any mod that changes the exact same specific line in XComGameData_WeaponData.ini in the configuration folder.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
