About this mod Machine translation
Enable camera free rotation while holding down the Q and E keys. Press Q or E or the corresponding menu icon once to rotate the camera 45 degrees. Smooth zoom in/out is also possible.
WotC Compatibility: The mod works with the WotC DLC, you just need to reassign the "Toggle Free Cam" hotkey in [Path-To-Mods]\FreeCameraRotation\Config\XComInput.ini from LeftAlt to RightAlt or whatever you like.
Note: mods do not disable achievements in XCOM2.
Disclaimer: Since there is no reliable uninstall mechanism for XCOM2 mods, and I don't have a QA department the size of Firaxis, I cannot guarantee that any of my mods are 100% free, so use them at your own risk. I did play with all of them and if I find bugs/issues I'll post a fix or at least a workaround.

Install:
Windows users:
For manual installation, extract the package into the Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods folder (create the Mods folder if it does not exist). The mod should be visible and selectable in the launcher. If not, make sure you did not unzip the mod into a subfolder, i.e. the FreeCameraRotation.XComMod file should be in the Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Mods\FreeCameraRotation folder. Run the launcher and select the mod.
Latest patch notes for Linux and Mac users: It has been reported that since the last patch, filenames are automatically converted to lowercase, so the workshop module should work out of the box.
Linux users:
Create the mods folder under [Path To SteamLibrary]/steamapps/common/XCOM 2/share/data/xcomgame, so it looks like this: [
SteamLibrary path]/steamapps/common/XCOM 2/share/data/xcomgame/mods and unzip the mod there. Then batch rename all folders and files to lowercase. The final file structure should look like this: [SteamLibrary Path]/steamapps/common/XCOM 2/share/data/xcomgame/mods/freecamerarotation/freecamerarotation.xcommod (plus other files in the freecamerarotation folder). Run the launcher and select the mod.
Mac users:
Create the mods folder under ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/XCOM 2/XCOM2Data/xcomgame so it looks like this: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/XCOM 2/XCOM2Data/xcomgame/mods and unzip the mods. Then batch rename all folders and files to lowercase. The final file structure should look like this: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/XCOM 2/XCOM2Data/xcomgame/mods/freecamerarotation/freecamerarotation.xcommod (plus the other files in the freecamerarotation folder). Run the launcher and select the mod.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
