For those new to XCOM 2, you need to set up a guerrilla tactics school early on and train each character before your first mission, otherwise the game will randomly assign classes and retraining will be impossible.

For some reason, the character may not display the accessories or other visual features shown in the photo. I think this is a problem with the game itself. Just adjust them in the character creator. For those unfamiliar with XCOM 2, you will need to build a Guerrilla Tactics School and manually train each character for the desired class (Psi Op, Sharpshooter, Grenadier, Ranger, or Specialist)
