Lower the volume in the startup logo to a more comfortable level.
The Egosoft logo that appears when launching the game has a rather high volume. louder than the game itself. And it cannot be controlled in the normal way (using in-game options).
Playing late at night can cause some unwanted side effects, like my wife trying to hit me with an incredibly hard object. :)
To prevent this inconvenience, I decided to adjust the volume to a lower level.
Since it worked so well, I wanted to share it with others.
Install:
Select the desired version.
Extract the archive and place egosoft_logo.mkv into the videos folder in the X4 directory.
If you decide to revert your changes, I recommend backing up the original files.
uninstall:
Restore original files from backup or delete egosoft_logo.mkv and use Steam/GOG to check/repair game files.

- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
