Better Input
🎮 A practical tool to solve game key binding problems!
---
✨ Introduction
The game is currently having issues with rebinding certain keys, so I quickly wrote this app using **AutoHotKey** to fix it. Originally my goal was to allow rebinding of the walk key to the `Alt' key like most Souls-like games, but simply make it support rebinding for most keys.
---
🚀 How to use
- **Extract and run the `exe` file as administrator** (it requires write permission to modify the `settings.ini` file, so don't put it in a protected folder like `Program Files`).
- Set your key bindings in **Better Input** (just set the keys you wish to override the game's default settings).
- In-game, set these actions to their default keybindings.
- If you want to disable a key binding and use the in-game binding instead, just click the `X` next to the key.
- Done! All settings are saved automatically.

🎮 Controller Setup Guide
- **Install and run DS4Windows**. Download link:
- Connect your controller and run **Better Input**.
- You will see the connected controller on the right, there should be two shown (because DS4Windows will add an analog controller), select the second connected controller. If it is not displayed yet, just reopen **Better Input**.
- Set your keystrokes in **Better Input**, e.g. set "Toggle Sprint" to `CapsLock`. You still need to set them as mouse/keyboard keys!
- In **DS4Windows**, set a button on your controller to `CapsLock`. In this way, in the game, the handle button will play the role of switching sprint.
- If you encounter problems, please adjust the **"Sprint Switch Dead Zone"**. This is the area where the stick is considered to be in the center position to automatically turn off sprinting. (The joystick axis range is 0-100, 50 is the center, the default dead zone = 10, then 40-60 is the "center" area).
- that's all!

📝 Important Notes
- **Skill Modifier Keys** Always used with the left and right mouse buttons. For example, if you set it to `Ctrl`, then you will use `Ctrl + Left Mouse Button` / `Ctrl + Right Mouse Button` to cast the skill.
- If you rebind the default mouse wheel input, the **mouse wheel will not work in menus**. Please use the arrow keys or drag the scroll bar with your mouse. I know this can be a bit annoying, but I don't have a solution yet.
- If you rebind a key that is also used in the menu (e.g. `R` key for removing items, `E` key for confirm, etc.), then you must use the newly bound key in the menu as well.

💡 **Tips**: This tool is very suitable for players who are used to a specific key layout, or who want to use a gamepad to simulate keyboard operations for a more flexible control scheme!
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
