White Knuckle Item Tooltips
Bilingual English / Russian item tooltips for White Knuckle. Readable item cards, known runtime effects, spoiler-safe/full information, and one-click EN/RU switching in the main menu.
English
What this mod does
White Knuckle Item Tooltips adds a dedicated dark tooltip card for items you inspect in the world or inventory.
- Item names, categories, descriptions, and known effects.
- English and Russian databases for the same canonical item set.
- Runtime stats are read from the game when available instead of inventing exact numbers.
- Long descriptions wrap cleanly inside the custom tooltip card.
- X switches between spoiler-safe and full descriptions.
- A prominent clickable LANGUAGE: EN / LANGUAGE: RU button appears in the upper-right of the main menu.
- The selected language and safe/full-information choice are saved between launches.
Installation Mod Manager
- Click Install / r2modman / a compatible manager.
- The required BepInExPack dependency is installed automatically.
- Launch White Knuckle and play.
No BepInEx.cfg edit is required in v0.3.0+. The mod owns a hidden persistent runtime host and works with the normal/default BepInEx manager visibility as well as HideManagerGameObject = true if you already use it.
Manual installation
- Install BepInExPack for White Knuckle.
- Either extract the package into the game root folder, or copy the mod folder into BepInEx/plugins.
- Launch the game and play. No BepInEx config edit is required.
Normal complete layout:
BepInEx/plugins/WhiteKnuckleItemTooltipsRU/
WhiteKnuckleItemTooltips.dll
items_en.json
items_ru.json
A DLL-only manual install is also supported: WhiteKnuckleItemTooltips.dll may be placed directly in BepInEx/plugins or in its own subfolder. EN/RU databases are embedded in the DLL as a fallback. Valid external items_en.json / items_ru.json beside the DLL override the embedded copies, so advanced users can still edit them.
Language button
The main menu contains an intentionally prominent clickable button:
LANGUAGE: EN / LANGUAGE: RU
- Switching language changes Item Tooltips and, when WKLoc is installed, the full game UI.
- A successful switch is saved first, then Main-Menu reloads immediately.
- X is independent from language selection and continues to control safe/full item information.
English Item Tooltips: WKLoc is NOT required.
Russian full-game UI + Russian Item Tooltips through the LANGUAGE button: WKLoc is required.
If you click RU without a compatible loaded WKLoc, the mod stays in English, does not reload, and shows exactly:
Russian localization requires WKLoc
On first run, the mod defaults to Russian if compatible WKLoc is already loaded; otherwise it defaults to English. A manual language choice is persisted afterwards.
Safe / full information (X)
Press X while playing to toggle:
- Safe mode — shorter descriptions intended to avoid unnecessary spoilers.
- Full mode — more direct mechanical or spoiler-bearing information when the database contains it.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
