About this mod Author’s original text
ZenUseItem
Instead of needing to put an item on your hot bar and then using 1-8 to interact with something, you can use the item directly from your inventory on the target.
Works great with ZenSign as it makes assignment of items very intuitive since you can do it directly from your inventory.
Usage:
- Point at the target object in the game world that you want to apply an item to.
- Open your inventory
- Point at the item in your inventory
- Press the controls indicated in the center of the screen (Ctrl + LeftMouse or Gamepad LT + X)
- Optionally: Use items from hotbar directly by pressing Shift + number or on gamepad AltButton + Dpad-up.
Full gamepad and keyboard support.
Known Issues
If you are using a backpack mod you must close the backpack before you can apply an item directly from your inventory.
Example: Using Finewood On a Sign
Client / Server Requirements
NOTE: Technically it is not required on the server. However, if it is installed on the server then it will force all clients to have it installed as well. This is to enable two modes of usage:
- Dedicated server admins can put the mod on the server to enforce all clients to have the mod installed and sync admin configs.
- Trusted friends can agree to run the same mods and connect through a vanilla dedicated server with no enforcement but with locked admin configs.
Client Only
This mod operates entirely client side. That means you can connect to any vanilla server with this mod installed. Other players do not need to have the mod installed.
NOTE: If you host a game session with this mod installed then it will be considered to be installed on the server since your session is the server. Therefor, all clients will be required to have it. If you don't want to require all players to have this mod then you will need to host your game in a dedicated server. You can easily download and run the Valheim Dedicated Server from Steam or host one in the cloud.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
