ZenPlayer

Player-related configuration, customization, and behaviors are all in one place.

Full gamepad support.

Sleep:

  • You can sleep in a bed without claiming it or owning it.
  • Track how long it's been since a player has slept in a bed.
  • Show the number of players trying to sleep.
  • Sleep only at night, no mid-afternoon lazy vikings skipping half the day.
  • Show a confirmation dialog for spawn point selection to prevent accidental re-assignment.

Knowledge:

  • You do not discover item knowledge by just walking near a workstation, instead you have to interact with it. This is mainly for multiplayer so that player progression isn't spoiled by simply visiting your friend's house.

Movement

  • Jump while encumbered.

Equipment:

  • Use items while swimming
  • Automatically re-equip items after swimming.
  • Hide helmet visual, stats still apply.
  • Swap your weapons while in motion and prevent the movement slowdown when doing so.
  • Auto-pickup only what's already in your inventory. Press the autopickup toggle button to cycle between three modes: All, Inventory, None.
  • Customize starting equipment for new characters.
  • Put hand items on your belt on startup.

Riding:

  • Adjust riding stamina drain and regen.
  • Adjust riding speed when encumbered
  • Prevent riding mounts when encumbered
  • Overcharge your mount and take damage to run longer distances.
  • Disable camera bobble when riding mounts
  • Pair with ZenCombat for fighting mounts that can attack and jump!

Stamina:

  • Stand still to regain stamina if encumbered or swimming.
  • UNLESS you are encumbered in the water, then you do not regain stamina. Drop stuff or drown.
  • Configure stamina usage for various actions, jump, run, dodge, block, etc.

Skills:

  • Suppress skill notifications. (does not prevent skill gain)
  • Lock skills for all players to preconfigured values. (Recommend using Configuration Manager as it makes the process easier)

Food:

  • Food does not degrade quality over time, except stamina. (configurable)

Health:

  • Heal more per comfort level
  • Heal when resting
  • Bonus heal if seated.

Death:

  • Option: Keep X number of equipped items when you die
  • Option: Keep all items when you die
  • Option: Keep all items except no-teleport when you die
  • Option: Always/Never lists for items to always/never drop on death.
  • Keep all food in your belly when you die.
  • Set skill reduction rate (default 0)
  • Disable the corpse run buffs. (not needed if skill loss is 0)
  • Track cause of death on map pins and tombstones. Longevity on tombstone too.
  • Track tombstone locations with Wishbone.
  • Option: Hide the bright player name on the tombstone to make it more subtle in the environment.

Console Commands:

  • zen_player
  • Show the current player's inventory or skills.
  • Useful in conjunction with the relay command from Zen.ModLib for admins to easily peek at player's characters.

Client / Server Requirements

NOTE: Technically it is not required on the server. However, if it is installed on the server then it will force all clients to have it installed as well. This is to enable two modes of usage:

  • Dedicated server admins can put the mod on the server to enforce all clients to have the mod installed and sync admin configs.
  • Trusted friends can agree to run the same mods and connect through a vanilla dedicated server with no enforcement but with locked admin configs.

Client Only

This mod operates entirely client side. That means you can connect to any vanilla server with this mod installed. Other players do not need to have the mod installed.

NOTE: If you host a game session with this mod installed then it will be considered to be installed on the server since your session is the server. Therefor, all clients will be required to have it. If you don't want to require all players to have this mod then you will need to host your game in a dedicated server. You can easily download and run the Valheim Dedicated Server from Steam or host one in the cloud.

CORE MODS

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
