Windstride's Cinematic Female Hair

A new hairstyle based on the hairstyle worn by the woman

in Valheim's cinematics.

Listed in game as Half up Ponytail, during character creation and at the

barber station.

Features

  • Adds Half up Ponytail as a selectable hairstyle.
  • Native hair physics on the ponytail and loose front, side and back sections.
  • Works with the game's hair color controls.
  • 128 × 128 diffuse and normal textures with pixel-style filtering.
  • Adjustable simulation strength, with an option to disable physics.

Requirements

  • Valheim 1.0.16, the version used for development and gameplay checks.
  • BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2351 or a compatible BepInEx 5 installation.
  • Jötunn 2.30.1 or newer.

Game updates can affect compatibility because the hairstyle uses the game's

built-in hair simulation. Earlier game versions have not been tested.

Installation

r2modman

Install through your mod manager. Dependencies are declared in the package.

manual installation

  • Install BepInEx 5 and Jötunn.
  • Extract the download into your Valheim installation folder.
  • Check that CinematicFemaleHair.dll and its assets folder are together in

BepInEx/plugins/CinematicFemaleHair.

  • Start the game and select Half up Ponytail during character

creation or at the barber station.

For manual installation of the ZIP, use the same procedure.

If copying directly into BepInEx/plugins, copy only the download's

BepInEx/plugins/CinematicFemaleHair/ folder, including its assets/ folder.

Updating from the private development build

With the game closed, remove the old BepInEx/plugins/CinematicHair/ folder

before installing this release. Keep only one copy of the plugin installed.

Existing characters retain their hairstyle selection. The old configuration

file remains compatible.

Configuration

After the first launch, edit:

BepInEx/config/brunoluccas.valheim.cinematichair.cfg

| Setting | Default | Effect |

| --- | --- | --- |

| Simulation.Enabled | true | Enables the hair simulation. |

| Simulation.MotionScale | 1 | Scales the allowed hair movement. Range: 0.1–2. |

Restart the game after changing these settings.

Compatibility and limitations

  • Works on both male and female characters.
  • Headgear that covers hair hides the full hairstyle. Custom trimmed variants

for individual hats and helmets are not included.

  • Install on each player's client to display the custom hairstyle. A dedicated

server installation is not needed. Multiplayer sessions have not been

verified; clients without the mod may not display the custom hair.

  • Character selection, hair coloring and movement were checked in game.

Every armor combination and movement animation has not been tested; some

clipping may occur.

  • Before uninstalling, choose a vanilla hairstyle for characters using this

hair.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
