About this mod Author’s original text
Why Sleep Alone?
Why Sleep Alone? turns Valheim's Dragon Bed into a true shared bed for two players.
The idea is simple: if the bed is clearly large enough for two Vikings, why should only one of them be able to call it home?
Created by TheLionCid.
Version: 0.1.1
Valheim: 1.0.17
Framework: BepInEx 5
Features
- Share the vanilla Dragon Bed (piece_bed02) with one other player.
- Two linked players can sleep in the same bed at the same time.
- Both linked players can use that Dragon Bed as their respawn point.
- Separate sleep and respawn positions prevent both players from occupying exactly the same spot.
- Completing a valid shared night grants both players Satisfied for 60 minutes by default.
- Satisfied can improve Health, Stamina and Eitr regeneration.
- Satisfied works alongside the vanilla Rested effect.
- Shared-sleep narration uses Valheim's dream-text presentation instead of ordinary HUD narration.
- Neutral, Romantic, Bawdy and Mixed presentation modes.
- Romantic/Bawdy modes reuse short vanilla heart effects on wake.
- Uses Valheim runtime assets where appropriate; no external AssetBundle is required.
Dragon Bed Only
The 0.1.x series intentionally supports only the vanilla Dragon Bed:
piece_bed02
Normal beds and other bed types are left untouched.
Keeping the feature focused on the actual double bed reduces interference with Valheim's normal sleeping, ownership and respawn systems.
Shared Bed & Respawn
A Dragon Bed can be associated with two players:
- the original vanilla bed owner;
- one shared partner.
Both linked players can use the same Dragon Bed as their respawn point.
The persistent shared-bed link is kept separate from temporary sleep occupancy. Finishing the night or leaving the bed therefore does not remove the shared home.
Satisfied
When both linked players successfully complete a valid night together, both receive:
Satisfied
Default duration: 60 minutes
Default bonuses:
- +10% Health regeneration;
- +10% Stamina regeneration;
- +10% Eitr regeneration.
Each bonus can be configured individually.
Satisfied is separate from Rested and is designed to coexist with it.
Text & Mood Modes
Neutral
Cozy, friendly and focused on companionship and sharing a home.
Uses the vanilla Dragon Bed icon for Satisfied.
Romantic
Warmer and more affectionate shared-sleep text.
Uses the vanilla Love Potion icon and a short vanilla heart effect when both players wake.
Bawdy
Viking tavern humor, double meanings and suggestive jokes without becoming explicit.
Two intensity levels are available:
- Mild
- Spicy
Mixed
Mixes the available tones while preserving the shared-sleep rules.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
