Visual Impairment Support
I made this mod for a friend of mine who plays Valheim and has significant vision impairment due to the loss of part of his optic nerve.
Current Feature
The mod adds a red outline to inventory slots containing weapons, armor, or tools. Shields, utility items, and ammunition are highlighted as well. Other items are left unoutlined. This is a visual change only; it does not affect item behavior or properties.
Why I Made This Mod
My friend would often throw away equipment because he mistook it for ordinary loot that should be discarded. The outlines make it easier to spot which items in his inventory are important and worth keeping.
Inventory
If you also have a visual impairment and would like additional accessibility features, I am open to hearing your ideas and considering new features for the mod.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
