Valheim Ward Barrier
A BepInEx mod for Valheim that dynamically transforms active player Wards into physical forcefields. It completely blocks and repels hostile monsters while leaving players and tamed base animals unharmed. Generated with AI
Features
- Physical Repulsion: Hostile creatures are dynamically pushed backwards when crossing the ward line.
- Audio Feedback: Triggers Valheim's native staggered impact sound effect upon collision.
- Audio Anti-Spam: Integrated internal cooldown stops audio clutter when multiple enemies assault the boundary.
- Permanent Protection: The barrier stays active endlessly as long as the Ward itself is standing and toggled on (no fuel/eyes required).
- Safe for Bases: Completely ignores tamed wolves, boars, chickens, and passive wildlife.
Configuration
After launching the game once with the mod installed, a configuration file will be generated at BepInEx/config/com.yourname.valheim.wardbarrier.cfg.
From there, you can adjust:
- PushbackForce: Adjust how violently creatures are thrown back.
- UseWardRadius: Toggle between the native Ward boundary (32m) or a custom radius.
- AudioCooldown: Configure how many seconds to wait before a single monster can trigger the stagger sound again.
Installation
- Install BepInExPack Valheim via r2modman.
- Drag ValheimWardBarrier.dll into your Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/ directory (or click Install with Mod Manager).
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
