A Valheim mod to add configurable hotkeys for various actions.
Features
- Toggle HUD: Quickly hide/show the in-game HUD (default F3).
- Repair Hammer: One press equips your hammer with repair already selected (unbound by default). Press again while repairing to put the hammer away. It looks for any tool with a repair option rather than the vanilla hammer by name, so it should also work with modded hammers or tools that have one (untested; tools without a repair option are ignored).
- Hotbar Shortcuts: Use hotbar slots 1-8 with key combinations such as Alt + 1 (unbound by default). Valheim's Controls menu can give each slot an extra key, but not a combination.
- Custom Item Bindings:
- Bind hotkeys to items by name (e.g., "Healing Mead", "Arrow"). This can be either the localized name or the internal item ID.
- Partial Matching: "Arrow" will match "Fire Arrow", "Wood Arrow", etc.
- Item Cycling: Press the hotkey multiple times to cycle through all items in your inventory that match the search name.
- Bindings fire while you are moving, so you can drink or swap ammo on the run.
Installation

Manual Installation
- Install BepInExPack Valheim.
- Download the latest release of ValheimHotKeys from GitHub.
- Extract the ValheimHotKeys.dll file into your \BepInEx\plugins directory.
Compatibility: tested with Valheim 1.0.
Configuration
The com.malafein.valheimhotkeys.cfg file will be generated in your BepInEx/config folder after the first run.
There you can set the HUD toggle key, the repair hammer key, the hotbar shortcuts, and the eight custom item bindings.
Recommendation: Use a configuration manager like shudnal's Configuration Manager to easily edit bindings and settings in-game.
Mouse buttons may be bound, but only Mouse0 through Mouse4, the buttons Valheim's input system supports.
To put a hotbar slot on a single key, use Valheim's own Controls menu, which has a rebindable alternate key for each of Hotbar 1-8. The hotbar shortcuts here are for combinations with Shift, Ctrl, or Alt.
Shortcuts still fire when you hold modifiers they don't include, so they work while you sprint. Valheim's own keys ignore modifiers entirely, though, so a shortcut shares its key with any game binding on the same key: Alt + 1 also uses hotbar slot 1. Left Shift and Left Ctrl are risky modifiers for hotbar shortcuts, because the game uses them to sprint and crouch: a Left Shift + 1 shortcut fires every time you press 1 while sprinting. Alt, Right Shift, and Right Ctrl are free. Left and right modifiers are separate keys, as they are in the game. The BepInEx log warns when a shortcut shares a key with one of the game's.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
