Valheim 1.0 — Hard Combat / Less Grind
This is a -ready modpack for a Valheim 1.0 dedicated server. It keeps combat dangerous while cutting repetitive gathering and base-management chores.
What this pack changes
- Hard combat is set through the world modifier, not a global difficulty preset.
- Resources use the 1.5× / More world modifier.
- Death penalty, raids, and portal item restrictions stay normal.
- Warfare, Armory, and Monstrum add progression content at their current defaults.
- EpicLoot uses the low-power minimal template. Boss-gated item drops remain enabled.
- OreSpreadQoL remains at its author defaults; it redistributes mining damage rather than multiplying ore.
- PlantEverything, MassFarming, and Seasons stay at their author defaults.
- CraftFromContainers pulls fuel, ore, and cooking ingredients from nearby containers, preferring the nearest one.
- Unified Target Portal gives destination selection while respecting the normal vanilla non-teleportable-item rule.
- BetterUI custom tooltips are disabled so EpicLoot enchantments display correctly.

The core libraries are explicitly pinned once at their current versions. A few upstream packages still declare older baseline library versions in their own metadata; do not manually add those older copies alongside this curated set.
Client install through r2modman
- Upload this ZIP to your own team as a Valheim Modpack. The package must keep manifest.json, README.md, and icon.png at the ZIP root.
- In r2modman, select Valheim, create a fresh profile, find your published pack, and install it. Start the game with Start modded.
- Every player must use the same published pack/version before joining the server.
Do not distribute this as a bare Import local mod ZIP and expect dependencies to download; local-mod imports do not resolve manifest dependencies. Publishing it first makes r2modman install the pinned dependency list normally.
Sparked Host server install
- Stop the server and create a world backup.
- In Sparked's Game Vault, install or confirm the clean Valheim BepInEx session. This server ZIP deliberately does not include BepInEx core files.
- Upload Valheim_1_0_Hard_QoL-1.0.0-Sparked_Server.zip to /home/container through SFTP or the file manager and extract it there. Merge the included BepInEx folder with the existing one; do not create BepInEx/BepInEx.
- Start the server once. The defaults intentionally left untouched will generate their own config files on this first boot.
- Confirm the BepInEx log shows the shared gameplay mods loading, then connect only with clients using this pack.
The server archive contains the actual server-side DLLs, their dependency DLLs, the shared configs, and Therzie localization files. It intentionally omits client-only BetterUI, CraftFromContainers, and MassFarming.
World modifiers
Do not select the combined Hard preset. Set the individual world modifiers instead:
| Setting | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Combat | Hard |
| Resources | More / 1.5× |
| Death penalty | Normal |
| Raids | Normal |
| Portals | Normal vanilla restrictions |
For an existing Sparked world, stop the server, downlo
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
