TrueFlight Crosshair

TrueFlight Crosshair is a client-side projectile crosshair mod for Valheim. Equip a bow, crossbow, thrown spear, projectile staff, or compatible modded weapon, and it places a second reticle over the spot your projectile is expected to hit.

Aren't you tired of watching expensive arrows and precious spells fly straight into a wall, floor, or a mountain side? TrueFlight reads the weapon in your hands and shows where the shot is expected to land before you loose an arrow, throw a spear, or cast a spell.

Features

  • Calculates the projectile trajectory from Valheim's weapon and ammunition data, including velocity, gravity, drag, launch angle, lifetime, and collision settings.
  • Accounts for the third-person camera offset, projectile spawn position, bow draw strength, and the turn your character makes when attacking.
  • The prediction stops at the first terrain, building, tree, creature, or other collider it finds.
  • Bows, crossbows, thrown spears, projectile magic staffs, and standard modded projectiles are supported.
  • Choose from several presets or open the live reticle editor with F8.
  • Client only: attacks, damage, projectile physics, and networking stay untouched.

Weapon spread cannot be predicted. TrueFlight marks the center of the shot before spread is applied and adds a configurable safety margin around nearby walls and narrow openings.

The default is the white Circle reticle with a maximum draw distance of 20 m. It stays visible whenever a supported weapon has a predicted collision in range. Feel free to change the reticle design and draw distance to your hearts content!

Installation and configuration

Install BepInExPack Valheim, then place DynamicAimPoint.dll in Valheim/BepInEx/plugins.

Settings are saved in BepInEx/config/com.valheimcrewman.dynamicaimpoint.cfg. Press F8 to tune the reticle in game, or edit the configuration file directly.

Thank you for giving this little mod a home in your world. TrueFlight Crosshair was a labor of love, built one lost arrow and scorched stone wall at a time. Skål!

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
