ToynbeeTiles
Scatters hidden "Toynbee tile" collectibles across your Valheim world —
weathered stone tiles with a cryptic message baked right into the
texture, in the spirit of the real-world Toynbee tiles.
What it does
- Guaranteed tiles near every boss altar (Eikthyr, The Elder,
Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth) and every vendor camp (Haldor, and Hildir's
camps), so you're always likely to spot one on a big trip.
- Rare random tiles scattered through ordinary terrain (~8% chance
per explored zone), for players who like to comb the map.
- Placement is deterministic per world seed — the same world always
generates tiles in the same spots.
- Walk up and interact with a tile to read its message.
- Tiles are fully persistent: once placed, they stay put across saves,
logouts, and relogins.
Compatibility
- Works in existing worlds — tiles will start appearing in newly
explored zones and near locations as you load them in.
- Multiplayer uses the same persistence system as any other placed
object, but hasn't been extensively tested with multiple simultaneous
clients.
Installation
Use a mod manager (r2modman Mod Manager) — it will pull
in the required BepInEx and Jötunn dependencies automatically. For
manual installation, extract into your BepInEx/plugins folder
alongside a working BepInEx + Jötunn install.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
