TidyDrops

v1.0.0·Updated 2026-09-20

Cleans dropped items without eating your loot: real item age, EpicLoot rarity via its own API, base and player protection.

About this mod Author’s original text

TidyDrops

Ground-clutter cleanup for Valheim that is careful about what it removes.

Dropped items pile up — a cleared Seeker nest, a mining trip, a raid on your base. TidyDrops

sweeps the leftovers on a timer, while leaving alone the things you actually meant to keep.

How it decides

Every item on the ground is checked in this order. The first match wins, and every one of

them means keep:

| Check | Kept when |

|---|---|

| Held or attached | the item is not loose on the ground |

| NeverDelete | its prefab name is on your list |

| Trophies | ItemType.Trophy — works for modded trophies too |

| EpicLoot rarity | at or above MinimumRarityToKeep |

| Player base | inside a workbench / fire area |

| Nearby player | a player is within PlayerSafeRadius |

| Age unknown | the spawn time could not be read |

| Too young | younger than MinItemAgeToDelete |

Anything that matches none of these is removed.

Design notes

Age comes from the game. The item's real spawn time is read through Valheim's own

spawntime ZDO value. If it cannot be determined, the item stays — an unknown age is never

treated as "old enough to delete".

Rarity comes from EpicLoot. TidyDrops calls EpicLoot.ItemDataExtensions.HasRarity and

GetRarity through a soft reference, and reads the list of rarities from EpicLoot itself, so

Mythic and Ancient are handled — and any rarity added later will be too. Without EpicLoot

installed, the mod simply skips that check.

Unrecognised settings fail safe. Put a typo in MinimumRarityToKeep and no magic item is

deleted at all; the log tells you which values are valid.

Your config stays yours. The mod never rewrites its own settings, and never adjusts the

cleanup interval behind your back.

Host only. Cleanup runs on the host. Ownership of the object is claimed before it is

removed, so clients never delete objects out from under each other.

Settings

BepInEx/config/dev.demit.tidydrops.cfg, or press F1 in game.

| Setting | Default | Meaning |

|---|---|---|

| Enabled | true | Master switch |

| CleanupInterval | 600 | Seconds between passes |

| MinItemAgeToDelete | 1200 | Minimum age before an item can be removed |

| MaxDeletionsPerPass | 200 | Safety cap; 0 disables the limit |

| ProtectTrophies | true | Never delete trophies |

| ProtectInsideBase | true | Never delete inside a player base |

| PlayerSafeRadius | 30 | Never delete near a player; 0 disables |

| NeverDelete | Coins,Amber,… | Prefab names to always keep |

| MinimumRarityToKeep | Magic | EpicLoot threshold; None disables |

| KeepAllMagicItems | false | Keep every magic item regardless of rarity |

| DryRun | false | Count and log, delete nothing |

| Verbose | false | Log the reason for every decision |

Try it safely first

Set DryRun = true and Verbose = true, wait one pass, and read the log. You get a line per

item with the reason, plus a summary:

10:39:21 оставляю TrophyDeer x1: трофей

10:39:21 оставляю SwordIron x1: редкость Legendary >= Magic

10:39:21 [DryRun] удалил бы Stone x14

10:39:21 — проход завершён за 34 мс [DryRun, ничего не удалено]:

просмотрено 67, удалено 39, оставлено 28. Следующий примерно в 10:49:21.

Turn DryRun back off once the numbers look right.

Log messages are currently in Russian; the settings and this page are in English.

Scope

Only items in loaded zones are considered — those near you and near connected players. Items

in unloaded parts of the world are untouched until someone goes there.

Note that Valheim already removes loose items after an hour on its own, when they are outside

a base with no player nearby. TidyDrops gives you control over that instead of replacing it.

Multiplayer

Install on the host. Clients do not need it, since cleanup only runs host-side.

Requirements

  • BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350
  • EpicLoot — optional

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.

Install these first, or the mod will not work:
