Trash Bag that destroys what you leave in it (with a protected list) and the Resource Thrift skill: cheaper crafting and upgrades, bought level by level at the Altar of Thrift.

About this mod Author’s original text

Thrift

Two features for Valheim.

Trash Bag (Сумка для мусора)

  • Crafted at the Workbench: 6 Leather scraps, 2 Deer hide, 4 Resin.
  • Use it from the inventory or hotbar and it opens a chest-like window.
  • Everything left inside is destroyed when you close the window. This cannot be undone.
  • Protected items (config ProtectedItems) are never destroyed: they are pushed back to your inventory

as soon as you drop them in, or onto the ground if your inventory is full. The bag itself is always protected.

By default boss trophies, boss drops, keys and similar valuables are protected.

Resource Thrift skill (Экономия ресурсов) and the Altar of Thrift

  • Build the Altar of Thrift with the Hammer (Crafting tab, near a Workbench): 20 Stone, 10 Fine wood, 5 Bronze.
  • Interact with it to see what the next level needs. With everything in your inventory, the offering is taken and

the skill goes up one level. Crafting itself never raises the skill, and death does not lower it.

| Level | Discount | Offering |

|---|---|---|

| 1 | 20% | Elder trophy, 20 Bronze |

| 2 | 40% | Bonemass trophy, 20 Iron, 10 Silver |

| 3 | 60% | Moder trophy, 30 Silver, 20 Black metal |

| 4 | 80% | Queen trophy, 30 Black metal, 20 Refined eitr |

| 5 | 80% + 10% chance of a free craft | Fader trophy, 20 Flametal |

  • The discount applies to crafting and item upgrades at stations, not to building.
  • Each ingredient is rounded up, minimum 1. Recipes that need 1-2 of something barely get cheaper,

but the free-craft chance at level 5 still applies to them.

  • The free craft does not apply to the few recipes that take "any one" of several ingredients.

Configuration

BepInEx/config/com.tokir.thrift.cfg

  • 1 - Trash bag: ProtectedItems (comma-separated prefab names), Width, Height.
  • 2 - Thrift level N: DiscountPercent, Requirements (Prefab:Amount,...), and FreeCraftChance for level 5.

These are admin-only and synced from the server in multiplayer.

Multiplayer

Everyone on the server needs the mod (same minor version). The trash bag is local to each player and is never

saved or networked.

Notes

  • The models and icons are assembled at runtime from Valheim's own meshes and materials. The mod ships no game

assets. If a game update renames one of those vanilla parts, that detail is missing and a warning goes to the

BepInEx log; the mod keeps working.

  • Built with AI assistance (Claude).

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
